Arsenal Thread | 2024/25

Firstly we won the Cup Winners Cup and secondly there's a strong argument to be said that the Arsenal side that remained unbeaten and had players like Henry, Bergkamp, Pires, Cole, Campbell etc in it was a superior team to the current City team.

But we'll never find out. But for sure neither City nor Arsenal will have a side that's better than the peak Pep Barcelona side with Messi, Xavi and Iniesta etc.
If they were so great then why did they collect such a modest amount of points - 90 - and score relatively few goals - 73 - in their "Invincibles" season?
Last season City were not at their best and got more points - 91 - and scored more goals - 96. Compared to City's Centurions team - 100 points and 101 goals - that Arsenal team look pretty crap to tell the truth.
Liverpool and Chelsea have had better teams too. The tables do not lie.

Different rules though in terms of ref protection against fouls, thresholds for penalties and so on. Plus VAR. Plus quality of other teams. That's why it's so hard to make a direct comparison on a points basis and instead look at the quality of the players and base it on that.

Barcelona scored 87 points in Laliga in the 2009 season and that's the greatest club side there's ever been. Pretty sure they are better than last season's Arsenal team who scored 89 points!

Barca got 99 points in 2010 and 97 in 2011 btw yet those sides were inferior to the 2009 team

These absolute fucking loons moan about everything

Biggest mard arses in football

I agree with that. Bournemouth have been a top flight team for 8 years in the last decade, they have a population of 200,000 and a catchment area of 600,000 people yet still only have a stadium that holds 11,000 and have seemingly no plans at all to expand the stadium.

They earn over £100m a year from the PL TV revenue and even earnt £79m from it when not even in the PL for a couple of years through parachute payments.
