Arsenal v City post match thread

Having sobered up this morning, I still feel like it was a defeat. I shouldn't, I know but after being one up I thought we'd go on and maybe get another and cement the 3 points. Arsenal came out very well 2nd half so fair play to them, but we should know that the first 15 mins in the 2nd half away from home are always going to be a bit of a storm and should be able to weather that - maybe I'm being harsh, I don't know.

Anyway, I should be happy with a point but I'm not. Having watched City for nearly 40 years, I guess that's a marker of just how far we've come as ordinarily I'd be buzzing with a point away to one of our graveyard sides!

Agree entirely mate.

Yes it was a point gained on Chelsea, but you know that makes little difference since we were always going to be ahead of them on GD anyway and it doesn't mean we can now draw elsewhere instead of winning, since that's 2 dropped points not 1.

The biggest impact from yesterday will be 2 dropped points on Liverpool, who will surely batter Spurs again today.

It's been a good week.

A little bit of frustration, mind, due to the Chelsea result, beforehand.

I thought Dzeko showed signs of fatigue against Arsenal.

Nasri was my player of the season up until his injury, but he has gone hiding for me in recent games. He lacked desire and energy at the Emirates.

I also thought Clichy was pretty poor, lacking intelligence and positional sense.

What has really surprised me in these last two games is the responsibility Silva has taken upon himself and moved to another level. He is demonstrating a level of tenacity and leadership I did not think he had in his locker.

We could do with a couple more of our exceptional talents taking his lead, mainly Yaya and Nasri in games like the Arsenal one.

Hopefully, the return of Aguero will see to that.

To put the Arsenal result into perspective, Liverpool failing to win today, or any time between now and the end of the season, turns our point against Arsenal into a victory.

Good intelligent post and I agree Aguero could be key - we lacked movement in the second half apart from Silva who is a sublime football player. Nasri looked as though the booing got to him which is surprising as he normally rises in games like that.

Very disappointed with Yaya yesterday. Gave the ball away too many times for my liking and was very poor defensively (left Flamini to run onto that cross unchallenged).

Maybe he is human after all and could do with a bit of a rest (only joking, about the human bit!)

I actually thought Nasri was pretty passive against United, also.

I do think he also looks to be carrying a little bit more timber in recent games.

If we don't win the league it won't be because of this result.

Arsenal - 4pts
United - 6pts
Chelsea - 0pts
Spurs - 6pts
Liverpool - 3pts so far.

Only really disappointing one is Chelsea.

Quite possible that - perhaps he has a slight injury that means he hasn't trained full out? I do think It is hard when you compare the work rate of Silva to most to be fair. 100% agree with your comment that others should take a leaf out of his book. In the first half yesterday he was everywhere. Which is why Sergio is key as he does a lot of that work pulling defences out of position. I just wish Edin could have kept the Tuesday night level as he looked leggy.

cannot see it all going down to anfield I still think as proved yesterday ,that we all are capable of dropping points I think a lot of posts were not negative but more of frustration and disappointment ,at not taking the chance to arrive(mancini) at the top especially after such a commanding first half ,when we had the chance to take the game away from them

As good as city were in the 1st half, we were just as good if not better in the 2nd and this is with us missing 4/5 top players whereas city were just missing augero.

As mentioned on here, this is not a result that is going to cost you the title as your results against top 4 this season have been excellent.

To put it into perspective, as shit as we've been against top teams away, our home form is 2nd to none. We have not lost at home in the league since first game of the season. We've beaten Liverpool twice, spurs, Everton in the cup, drawn with Man U city and Liverpool.

I also think we've conceded the least amount of goals at home as well (I haven't checked so don't quote me on that).

All in all if I was a city fan id have been happy with a point as the emirates is not a easy place to come for any team, regardless of how many injuries we have. And you've still taken 4 points of us this season.

Good post Afc it kinda puts things in perspective. I think most of the complaints are that we didn't finish you off 1st half when we were on top. I agree I think a draw was a fair result overall other than Rosicky should have had 3 yellows yesterday. I'm still confident that when we need to step up at Anfield we will.

Misleading this, cos Arsenal have a midfield cast of thousands who are virtually interchangeable. Walcott and Wilshere are the highest profile casualties, but neither would have improved the side one iota yesterday. Cazorla and Rosicky were outstanding, Arteta and Flamini were essential to the gameplan, and they still had Oxlade-Chamberlain on the bench. The difference Aguero makes to City though is immeasurable
