Arsenal v City post match thread

He was put through on goal on how many times? He was passed the ball to hold up play for the the team showing attacking intent on how many times? You carn't just single out one player because we drew and did'nt win. Dzeko has got importent goals for us on many occasions this season did you forget the goal against Palace the day we could'nt buy a goal..

I agree... Dzeko has scored some really important 'heavy' goals for us (and when we won the title two seasons ago) which the whole team understands; his stats speak for themselves.. he is a different type of striker to Aguero, Negredo & Jovetic, which is good, & he doesn't get injured too often, and he more than plays his role.

for anyone who is clueless on this matter, if you want to look at strikers who don't perform (and a talented one) I'd suggest you take a look at Paul Stewart (one of our own) and how he fared once he transferred to Liverpool.

we were nine points behind , only 10 days ago , we are now 2 pts behind and still 2 games in hand , hardly a disastrous few days.
The absolutely best day to go top, will be the final day, I think we'll get there slightly earlier, but it will go to the final day. (Might not agree with you about dzeko today, but I'm with you on this, today is still a good result, yes we could have had a better result, but there was another team, and they played well for most of the match, even when we dominated in the first half.

agree cleavers , hope we wrap it up against villa , i dont think my heart will stand another last day shoot out , QPR game nearly finished me off :)

ehehe, but who would change anything about that?

- and somehow, I can't see that being surpassed in any way this year; which may or may not be a good thing depending upon your perspective.. and some people left early at QPR ;-S

I went into this game having said for weeks I'd take a point before it started. But being up 1-0 and dominating at half and not getting all 3 is a bit disappointing.

But we still gained ground on Chelsea and put Arsenal out of the race. It really all does come down to the Liverpool game; if we don't lose it, we win the title. If we lose it, we still might, but it will be very tight.

Little taken a back that Navas was taken off, as he gives that balance on the right hand side with Zabba and is not found wanting when tracking back to help his defenders. We became very brittle when Navas was taken off on the right handside, which Arse began to exploit, because up till then Navas had THEM on the back foot. He was a pain to them with his runs down the right or appearing somewhere else on the park hounding THEM. Navas is more than just a crosser of balls he is like a pesky midge fly that never leaves you in peace. Silva and Nasri thrive when Navas is on the park and this triangle is incredible to watch the movement the three of them use against the opposition.
Samir does appear to let the Arse support get at him and it became clear it was getting to him. But he has been superb this season and I for one think a one off game against his former club is not the end of the World.
Would taking off Dzeko for a more mobile Alvaro or Jovetic who to some degree are better strikers holding or going forward with the ball than Dzeko and who track back give us the all round game of 11 players rather than carrying a striker/player who is basically a target man?

In hindsight I would have subbed Dzeko first because Navas was posing a real threat and he does a lot of good defensive stuff.............but them I'm watching from 25000kms away, what do I know?

It's all starting to go our way. I have little doubt quality will get its reward. Come on you Spurs!

Will we ever get a ref who is consistent with his yellow cards - that's all I ask.

Whether Arsenal deserved cards or not,you can guarantee Ya Ya will get bookings for silly things most games. As soon as Rosicky got ground on him yesterday I said hes going to foul him here. Its alright saying hes taken one for the team but him Zaba and Kompany are now on 8 IRRC and if we lose them in the run in we could be in big trouble.
