Is it not Arsenal that has provided some well needed respite to you as City fans while standing toe to toe with the "rags" over a few years..including winning the title on their own patch in 2002.Blue2112 said:Ray78 said:Unfortunately your post has been ignored by the Gooners on here. It is the case of telling them to F**** Off.
I know but there seems to be a few more here now than there was the other day so any new lurkers can be told too ;-)
I have seen Arsenal lose at Bradford,Wrexham,York and Walsall(at home) all bottom league clubs and others over the years. Always respected City fans over the years and you like us have had some awful numbers for games between us, I know I was there.
I respect you have no sympathy for our lack of silverware for 7 years, but would ask you to at least spare a thought for the match going fan who has watched his team from the platt lane benches and the lower kippax on a Monday night in the pissing rain as the club he loves further alienates his "Kind" in search of the omni fan that we all despise while still using his blind sense of loyalty to rape him for every penny (£62 minimum for us on Sunday as well)he earns and more and using not to invest in his beloved club but to escalate shareholders profits.
Win Lose or Draw I will drop by here on Monday
Regards & Respect
I'll stand and have a drink and chat football all day long with true fans as there will always be a common bond between any set of supporters because we've all had to put up with the same shit, policing, shit food, prices, conditions, etc - and yes that actually includes any genuine rags (Utd in case any Gooners were wondering) - I enjoy the banter as much as the next person and will gladly take it off you on monday if you win and let's be honest our record down the years doesn't bode well.
Referring back to what I wrote earlier I genuinely would like to know what City or any other club outside of the traditional top 4 were/are supposed to do to break into that elite top four and then go on and sustain it for years whilst acheiving any degree of success coupling the Champions League along the way.
The reality is there was/is none other than to buy your way into it. I genuinely genuinely look at the likes of the West Hams, Aston Villa and Newcastle's of this world and think that was us a few years ago and look at just how much money, time, effort, heartache, bad press and general mud throwing we've had to take just to get this far and we've still along way to go yet.
I look around at what our owners have been doing since day one here and sometimes have to pinch myself at how lucky we are and why us? I look at all the things off the pitch they've done and I know it would never have happened in my lifetime without them. It was a dream, a pipedream to think we could climb the table each year and strengthen the squad every year and then climb another few places until eventually we broke into the big time and get one of those coveted moneybags Champions League placings. The reason is whilst teams like us are chipping away at it, teams like yourselves in the Champions League have got the foot firmly pressed to the floor on the accelerator and the gap widens year after year. There is no catching up in the old traditional ways. FFPR will kill any chances of West Ham, Aston Villa and Newcastle fans of ever having a day like we did last May. And that I find is a sad situation. Every club and every fan should have that dream every season but unfortunately that isn't the reality.
