Erm, hang on a sec. Who cares about the ethnicity of your owners? I don't.

Any objection I might have to your owners can be researched at Human Rights Watch.

It's a bit low playing the race card, isn't it? Even more so that it was played so shabbily. At least try and entrap someone into making disagreeable comments first.

Poor, very poor.

Didn't refer to you specifically did I? Although the 'dirty money' comment is often said with what I think is an undertone of racism, I'm not saying your comment wasn't based more on the reasons you say, which are still dumb in my opinion but there you go.

Just talking about something that undeniably goes on in the press, on rival fans' forums, comment sections of articles etc from the time of the takeover right up 'til now.

I agree with everything you say except the 'dumb' bit! :-)

By the way, I'm not saying you are bad people for supporting City, just that you've had some dodgy owners recently. But you were here before them, and will be here long after they leave.

If anyone is genuinely perplexed about why anyone might have any issue with human rights in the Emirates, then you can do your own research. Needless to say you won't find much to boast about.

-- Sun May 23, 2010 6:39 pm --

The Human rights record of Abu Dhabi is about a million times better than our own Government`s record. Next.

Absolutely ridiculous thing to say.

Islamophobic Little Englanders just like the press, most of these rival fans.

Notice it's always '''d rather we did this and that rather than just had some rich Arab come in and....'' - never just ''I'd rather we did this and that rather than just had some rich owner come in and....''

Now why would you add the ethnicity/nationality of the owners into that sentence unless you believed that them being Arabs somehow made it worse? So basically, unless you are a racist.

There's not 1 country in the world who at some point as not broken a human rights act.

It's also true over the years some arabic countries records have not been good but tradition and old values meant quite alot to them and the rules which they have to adhere to now have made them think differently and things over the years have changed somewhat. Chopping a mans hand off for stealing is not frowned upon but expected in some countries by the majority,is it wrong yes but do you then say everyone from that country is to blame and be forever tarnished with it ?. It still happens but not so often these days than of as little as 10 years ago.

The world is changing rapidly and become more closely linked and history however bad will at some point be left there.

It's not that long ago this country brought and bought over people for cheap/slave labour lets remember that and hope everyone remembers and forgets.

By the way human right violations have decreased around the globe by over 50% in the past 10 years go figure.

And one more thing PLEASE PLEASE don't go on about spending.

Everton over the entire history of the premier league have been in the top 7 spending clubs. I'll give you one guess what their average finish is over that period ?
I'll post you a shiney blue peter bag if you get it right and a shiney fuck off with it ;-)

Really? Abu Dhabi have killed and maimed loads of innocent people in "legitimate" wars haven`t they? Punishing thieves with tough repercussions is just and works well. We are far too soft and pay for it.

iraq = no weapons of MD= 100 000 people dead... yeah right.

is it because of chopping hands and the like?

then you should be talking about Syariah Law first. hardly connotated exclusively to Emirates.

putting Emirates and Syariah Law together is not the wisest of arguments. and corporal punishment is also not that rare either.

waterboarding, death by lethal injection, death by decapitation, death by the electric chair, honor killing, etc. you find them both in developed and developing countries.

your argument is against Syariah Law. so find a forum that discusses this topic and I'm sure many would debate endlessly with you about it.

in the case of bluemoon, i see little relevance to bring up aforesaid topic that is to do with 'Arteta going to City'.

here are some straws.

Totally agree. Just needed to react to idiots.

Right, I think we are more or less of agreement that Arteta would be a good signing!

Ive heard it all now. An Evertonian, a club with an horrendous history of racism playing the Amnesty International card.

Jesus wept.

Do one your fucking scouse clown

Are we talking about the same Everton here that is sponsored by a Chinese beer company?
Funny cos as far as i'm aware the human rights record of China is pretty fucking awful!

This thread should be moved into the "Off Topic" board, it has completely lost its point from being a transfer related discussion.

We should stear clear. We have an advantage over other clubs at the moment which is money. Now last season we helped Arsenal and Everton by giving them way more than they deserved for good but not incredible players. We look like doing the same this season for Arteta and Milner. We will get raped for either of these players. Offer slightly over what they are worth but not twice their value.
If we are going to get raped we may as do it abroad.
We should not enrich our competition.
We didn't get credit for spending most of our money at home (Chelsea did when they bought British) so stuff them.
