The most important thing is trying to get Pep to carry on until about 2023-24 for me.
No.2s rarely if ever have any success on replacing the incumbent. I can only think of the dippers really.
Will Arteta want to follow Pep?
When Pep leaves we may hit the same problem that Utd hit when Fergie left ... that the next manager is almost guaranteed to disappoint and be seen to be getting less good results with the same group of players.
Following straight after "the greatest manager this club has ever had" tends to be a poisoned chalice?
To think this is to completely misunderstand the two men and how the two organisations function(ed).
Doubt it. He would have to be special to replace Pep with no managerial experience and if he truly is a mini pep in the making then he will surely be off proving his worth elsewhere long before it’s time to take the seat here. I’m sure it’s the plan but I wouldn’t expect it to happen. It’s more likely he goes elsewhere and comes back further down the line if he does well.
We need an allardyce or mourinho after Pep. Somebody who’s football is so shit that we can appreciate decent football again from the guy who comes after him.
I hope you're right.
It seems that Fergie was really poor at planning for the future after he left ... and all the people who supposedly learned their management skills from 'the great man' (Bruce, Keane, Ince, Phelan, Hughes, etc ... even McLeish & Strachan from earlier times) turned out to be diabolically bad managers.
I hope Pep helps City to plan for life after him, and passes on his skills to those he sees have potential ... but really, how big an incentive does a manager have to ensure that he is less missed when he goes?
Agree about the quiet character. I am not sure he has the charisma required to manage at this level or the authority. Nice guy by all accounts and highly intelligent... is that enough??Arteta seemed quiet when he stood in for Pep,
I think Kompany would of been great with him and both could have took this on.
Inexperience. When pep goes all his backroom.staff will leave too. Arteta would be a huge gamble, one City will not takeI think Arteta has a reasonable chance of succeeding Pep. He is learning from the master, I believe most of the players like working with him. Be interested to know why you think Arteta has little chance of replacing him?
You sound more of a tit now with that response than your original nonsense - keep digging
I hope so, he'd be my first choice.Pochettino will be City's next manager.
United will make a big push if they have to bin Mister Tumnus, but next summer could be the time if Pep cleans up again.
I think someone has already mentioned it but it would be nice if Pep's time here mirrored the 8 years Cruyff was manager of Barcelona given the obvious comparisons. The most important thing is trying to get Pep to carry on until about 2023-24 for me.

If we could get the 5 year extension, That would be perfect.
Was Rodgers linked to City before.
Nope! Don't want him. Once Pep his done here, if he is still here he should go too.Obviously for the time being Pep is here to stay but when the time does come, do we feel Arteta would be a good option given his close work with Pep?
