Asahi partnership... New beer in the ground

Where possible in other parts of the ground, even if it's a smaller area, City should roll this bar concept out. It's been a great success. Credit to the person at City for coming up with this bar idea and pushing it through to completion.

Half-time.

Agreed it's been a great addition.

Something else is worth mentioning too. Outside of the busy half-time period and in the 20-25 minutes before kick-off, it's a piece of piss getting served. As a comparison, at around 12.25 on Sunday in The Townley I was in a queue at the bar with a mate and it was 5-6 deep. It took us a good 10-15 minutes to get served which meant I had to end up necking my pint as I was getting in the ground early to help with the 1894 display. Now I know many of us would still prefer the "feel" of going to a proper pub pre-match but this new bar area has that pub feel anyway and people like that tight-arsed **** in Mary D's who hasn't so much as invested more than about 30p in the back room of his pub over the past 2 decades ought to take note because the Rag bastard has gotten rich off us blues in that time and he still can't be arsed doing his boozer up.

We need this in CB Level 3, but with some nice comfy armchairs for the FOC's

City need to do beer at a decent price to draw people in from the pubs, 4 pints 22 quid and served in a plastic cup ffs, you dribble more down you than you drink

Asahi is £5.30 a pint so that's £21.20 for 4 pints which comes down to £19.08 for 4 pints when the 10% seasoncard discount is applied. If you can find any pub around the ground - or anywhere in city centre Manchester for that matter - that does Asahi for less than a fiver a pint then I'll be interested to know. In fact, you're looking at £4-£4.50 a pint for lesser beers than Asahi such as Carling or Carlsberg in The Townley/Corner Shop/Mary Ds and all of those places serve it in plastic or paper cups too.

The only truly significant savings you can make on City's prices around the ground are if you go the Joseph Holts route and drink in The Grove.

shush
the grove gets rammed and packed as it is !

We more or less sacked that place off some years back when a mini-bus load of Liverpool fans were getting preferential treatment over City fans in that they were getting their pints served in proper pint pots while we had to make do with plastic cups!
Find that odd,why would they serve some away fans in proper glasses but not their regular home customers, not doubting you but thats strange. As a one off anyway I wouldn't let that put me off going in there.

I think they'd booked in with the pub in advance, hence why they were getting special treatment. Doesn't make it right though!
