Assault, leg breakers and elbows.

Re: Assault, leg breakers and elbows.

$ky aren't biased obviously but do you think they'd have pretty much ignored it if one of our players performed the same forearm smash?

or would they perhaps have banged on and on about it showing replay after replay?

in an unbiased kind of way

What makes me proud as punch today is not only did we beat them easily and could of had 5 or 6 but the fact that our players and club officials have dignity. I don't want to see our players surround the ref - like Rooney does - Christ he seems to think he's the referee at times (half time constantly in the ref's ear, questioning EVERY decision) It would have been easy for the team to lose their heads given the vile tactics of Fellani and co last night but instead we just beat them by fantastic football. Silva never moans or stays down trying to get someone in trouble same for Zabba who would have been excused in trying to get revenge. Manuel has to take a lot of credit as he too acts in the correct way. There has never been a better time to be a blue and sooner or later the media will catch on to the fact that our club and ownership do things the right way.
Agreed.

With regards to Oliver's appointment IF the scum were challenging for the title we'd have got one of the "Elite" referees. Even the PGMOL are having a dig at the rags. Looking at the fixture coldly it's a mid table side v title challenger and gives one of the younger refs some experience for when they hit the "Elite".
I think you will find Oliver is one they consider as the elite, he's done the 2nd or 3rd most PL games this season, he's rated highly by the FA.

Didn't know that. Thought he was still learning his trade so to speak.

I think the FA need to answer the following:

Why wasn't Fellaini red carded?
Why wasn't Shrek booked for his lunge on Dzeko and why did Oliver constantly allow him to have running conversations with him when he wasn't even captain?

Have a look at the Wellshite foul on Zabba (borderline red IMO) and see who is moaning at the ref about the decision. Have a look at most of the game and see who is whinging about most decisions.

It's not just Oliver who allows this.. all the ref's do. He's rarely the ref yet he's given 1 to 1 chats all the time whilst he moans and moans. In the same games you see the opposing teams players (sometimes even their captain) go over to the ref and be told to go away. Yet with Rooney he's given the chance to have a proper talk to.

It's cos he's the FA's golden boy and they don't want to piss him off right before the world cup, forgetting the fact that it's this mollycoddling of Rooney that will see a World Cup ref have no problems sending him off, which is as the usual is going to happen as it always does. He does something on a pitch for England he'd have gotten away with whilst being in a scum shirt, and the media go crazy.

The Fellani assault gets worse the more you watch it, it's a truely shocking incident and for bogbrush to come out and say he didn't do anything makes it even worse. If the FA had any balls they'd have re-reffed the game like they did with the Thatcher one, it's a good job it was on Zabba as on someone else he could have been knocked out.

Wellshite's deserved red, it's irrelvant he's slipped as he's going into that challenge regardless of the slip, if he didn't slip the challenge would have been a lot higher. Reckless beyond belief and made worse by wiggy berating the ref for booking him.

Wiggy also doing a behind scissor tackle and then taking our player out on the break yet totally ignored as the norm.

Refs seem to give the teams we play the chances to break up our counters/attacks, yet the first incidents our players break one up it results in a booking. I was looking at the first yellow odds before kick off and Kompany was 10/1. I opted against putting it on but wish I'd have done it as it's usually going to be him or Ferny who are first booked in a game. I'd like to see the stats actually if there's anyone out there with too much time on their hands!?

The bog brush should definitely have gone, doubt the FA will do anything though.

If you watch the incident again (I've watched the extended highlights a few times on the City website:-)), he gets in the ref's face after being carded and actually pushes him.
Football should take a leaf out of League or Union's book and reign in these arrogant pampered pricks. They should mic up the refs as well, I wonder how gobby the fat little scouser would be if we could all hear what he was saying. On second thoughts we'd probably need subtitles.

Re: Assault, leg breakers and elbows.

I think this topic should be about tackles that could have seriously damage a players career. Take the one on Silva at Hull. It could. Take the one on Zab by Wellbeck. It could. Take the blatant elbow on Zab from Fellaini. It could not have. Yet all three were definitely worth a red card. Some say Wellbeck slipped. He did in a way because he couldn't control stopping himself for blindly chasing the ball, bringing danger to himself and the opponent.
As for our players not protected. No, we don't get the treatment Barcelona got when we played them. But I think it's more about poor refereeing other than our players not getting any protection. I do feel our players should stand up a bit more at times. Than again it can easily disrupt an advantage we have playwise. Like we did at the swamp. A bust-up could have changed the game the way we didn't want it to.
