Assisted dying

I can guarantee that doesn’t happen mate.

What many people fail to understand is pain killers are addictive hence they are given sparingly. Come end of life no medical professional is considering the risks of you becoming addicted so you’ve got a whole cupboard of options to find relief from.

They’ll give you as much as you need of whatever you need.
I agree addiction fears doesn’t come into it with end of life care, but there are significant side effects when used and a definite career ending fear of being accused of (and I don’t like this term) bumping someone off with excessive painkillers.

I wouldn’t want to be the medic ending the life but would want to have the option if I was a patient given some of the deaths I have seen.

I understand the fears of a slippery slope but that is where the legislation needs to be strong.

I hope they vote the way I want but understand the concerns raised. We will find out in a few minutes.
