Aston Villa (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

I don't know the full story on Alvarez and Palmer etc so I can't say what happened. But we never ever talk about another striker unless it's a back-up for Haaland. Now which striker do you know who is a regular at their current club is going to come as a back-up? The mind boggles.
It's a very fine line - Pep always likes a small squad and is very loyal to his favourites. We lost those players and couldn't attract some because when we were winning everything they couldn't see themselves getting as much game time as they wanted. Fast forward - we have to be careful that from the outside it looks like something is seriously wrong and the natural conclusion is we may have some big problems with the 115 heading our way. Hopefully not the case but for the first time Pep looked shell shocked and his usual high energy is not there. Hugo Viana has one hell of a job on his hands.

Rogers and Palmer are clearly good enough for us. It was arrogance and complacency on our part that we let them go.
Harrwood belis is better than akanji. Has a better fitness record than stones.
Doyle is better than gundo.
Lavia would easily get in out midfield.
Delap would be an excellent alternative to a sulky haaland

Etc etc etc

Foden needed a goal, but otherwise the next three games (Everton, Leicester West Ham ) will determine whether this is just a perfect storm or something drastically worse.

Even worse, there was a move towards the end when Doku pulled it back, but everyone had run to the far post.
That was actually a good cross but his teammates were hiding behind defenders, too scared of taking responsibility.
It’s a good cross if it’s to someone. He never fucking lifts his head up to see where they are and creates fuck all.

This is what I don't understand ? Rodri is missing and not one player in the squad can play there ?
So what should any good manager do is change the system, pack the defence and midfield and become hard to beat and play against, So what if we stink the place out and look ugly, make us hard to beat at least
I think that's sensible.
We simply don't have a Rodri to organize our midfield so why play a system that is risky without him.?
Teams are no longer afraid of City so concentrate on defending then we may be the ones benefitting from a breakaway goal.
