Aston Villa (H) Post-Match Thread

Luiz did well. He got a call-up for Brazil (not U23) the other day, ahead of the next international break. Might have a future with City.
I've always assumed that we would buy him back once he is eligible. How come he can play for Villa but not for us? Does him playing in the prem or getting Brazil call-up help to get him what he needs to be able to play for us?

Same game.
Meant to say Cancelo.
But continue to focus on the mistake rather than the message.......

It's quite a complex system, I don't know all the details. He's one of their most expensive players, and probably on one of the biggest salaries at the club. That qualifies him for a work permit. At city he would rank at the bottom. Wesley's Brazilian too..

If he gets enough caps for Brazil he'll qualify for a work permit playing for City. I don't know if his current work permit would carry over if City triggered the clause.

Didn't play with shin pads, says it all about his attitude.
Knowing he's going to get kicked a few times, obviously ok with risking an injury but also might tell you about his tackling ? A few in the past dont play with pads but not many, I always wore pads when I played, shins wouldn't survive without them

I think once you qualify for a work permit in a league you then automatically qualify for any team in that league. He did not qualify for one at City but now that he has one he can re-sign with City.

Apart from trying to gift Villa a goal in the first half with a truly awful pass.
Don’t mind the occasional misplaced pass, he’s told to play like that and most of the time his distribution is spot on. What makes me angry is that having given it away he doesn’t address the onrushing forward, he just retreats and retreats to the edge of his box without any attempt to make a tackle. Better forwards than the Villa lad will punish such lily livered defending.
