Atmosphere - 2023/24

Enjoy nothing more than a long round trip, train, taxi, tram in all weather's. Cheering, applauding, chanting when appropriate - (I apologise for sometimes stopping and having an intake of breath when the opposition look like scoring) - once in a while I have an actual conservation with the person next to me too. Only to get back and be told how shit it all was.
Great thread.

Given the game itself was quite boring, I thought the atmosphere was good.
I thought that game was gripping last night. Newcastle looked a threat every time they got the ball but we were even better at preventing them from having it too much.

I reckon pound-for-pound (considering our lack of numbers, no subs and tiredness from Athens) that was one of our best performances for years and the game was excellent. And the game itself was probably the most intense close affair we’ve had for a few years.

I thought the atmosphere was very good first half but when the players were fading in energy second half and needing the crowd to get behind them, there were only odd pockets of fans here and there who really stood up and did that last night.

Very quiet second half all over the ground.

Not read the comments just putting my opinion on.. watched City long enough to know we have been very quiet over years compared to some but I think maybe from Fulham home game last season, when pep rallies us, think our home atmosphere is as good as it will get in England. I sit in SS3 and 9/10 home games I don't stop singing, chanting, and making a racket. Nowhere better for me in prem when we're at it

I think we're one of the best in the Prem for home atmospheres and probably THE best for aways.

Genuinely think Newcastle were shocked yesterday and why they were so poor up until about the 70th minute. They tried to get going a few times in the first half and were just drowned out. They have this ridiculous mythical aura about their fanbase.

Yes, it wasn't Madrid or Arsenal levels but it's never going to be like that every game. Think the constant chipping away at us from others has given some a complex and they're overly negative about ourselves. I imagine the first half was the best anywhere in the Premier League yesterday.

Social media has done a right job on our reputation which is hard to shift - not just about empty seats but also about our atmosphere. People literally believe and repeat things that they don’t have the first clue about. Saying that, we need to have regular noise from different parts of the stadium to get close to having best home atmosphere.

We said the same. Usually it stops on 90 mins im pretty sure
It’s part of the new rules around added time the clock now has to carry on, so if six minutes added it runs to 96, but if a lengthy stoppage in that six minutes say 2 minutes, it won’t carry on running until the actual final whistle which should be 98.

First time in 317.

We have our own drums at the back (twatting the wall I assume)

I've been in every part of this stadium since 2003 and it's the loudest I've experienced up there. Like an away game.

Just wish they stood up all game (some next to the away lot seem to).

Couldn't hear the Geordies much at all.

Staying to the end is my only option anyway as far as I can see or get stuck on the aisles or stairs after.

May as well stay and watch the team walk around pitch with Pep going crazy happy.

When I've been in other areas you cannot hear that atmosphere up there.

"I like it, I like it, I like it oh whoooo ohhh whoooo

City win 3 in a row"

if you compare the atmosphere for this fixture to a few years ago. It’s miles better. There have been games where you can only hear the away fans.

I think more areas of the ground are joining in and we finally have a good mix of chants. The classic chants are still the loudest, but the newer chants are pretty decent as well.

I still think having one area that has a large number of our vocal fans is needed. It’s too disjointed at times

It’s brilliant up there. As you say it’s like an away game. For me it’s the loudest part of the ground. There were multiple times when everyone was singing and it was non stop for large parts of the game. Other than the last ten minutes we outsung the geordies in ss3
