Atmosphere 2024/25

There’s no atmosphere culture within our fanbase, stadium or club. We manage fine for atmosphere when everyone’s up for it and create a great atmosphere for the biggest games (although that’s disappeared since the run-in of the 2022-23 season). But generally, we have nothing like other sets of fans, stadiums or clubs have in terms of set up.

We don’t have an atmosphere stand at the Etihad (a small number of blocks within a huge stand that dwarfs it, is not a stand).
Even where there are a few dedicated blocks, none of them are areas where vocal fans populate early doors before kick off and build songs and atmosphere in the stands from there.
Our away ticket allocations to proper fans are getting smaller as well which reduces the amount of people who get to go to away games where most songs originate.

We’ve barely got any pubs around the ground anymore so there’s nowhere near enough social hubs for City fans pre/post-games to get songs going, we have no meet-up areas in Town where Blues gather pre/post-games to get songs going, we have nothing like a ‘Boss Nights’ like Liverpool fans have.

There are no proper videos of our home singing sections or away games that are filmed and posted regularly on social media.
We don’t have a TV channel that could have song shows on (MUTV has a United songs show, over the years on that show there’s been some of the most cringeworthy television ever made, however it works because songs are learnt and do take off).

All of this means the amount of our fanbase who are regularly exposed to our songs are a very small percentage of the overall fanbase.

Anyone slightly interested in creating an atmosphere needs to commandeer the new NSL2 and make that our vocal stand.
Fans should aim to get to the seats in that new NSL2 half an hour before games kick off and start building the atmosphere from the stands there.
We need to demand that the club stop dishing out our away allocations to utter nobodies and get more proper City fans attending with better priced tickets for home games.
We should have meet ups in Town at places like Shambles Square and Cutting Room Square before big games.
For big games we should organise with the club for a professional camera (not a hand held phone) to video our singing sections and away sections and put footage on a fan lead channel, and where the atmosphere is good and consistent, have videos with the words to songs at the bottom so the songs get out to the masses… and no pointless concourse shite.

We need to do more to get more of our fans exposed to more of our songs.

10 years ago it was exactly the same as it is now. 20 years ago. 30.

The only club who has any kind of fan base that tries to replicate our European counterparts is Crystal Palace, and even that is only about 10% successful.

Our culture is different. It’s as simple as that and it has never changed and never will.
Portsmouth are as noisy as fuck and don't have that Ultra bollocks, they do have that scruffy smelly clown John Westwood with the bugle and bell though and two drummers either side of him. They have always been noisy, home and away, lack of songs but very fucking loud.

An atmosphere requires an amount of jeopardy. Until recently most games we swat teams aside so it is flat and sterile.

The best atmospheres recently were Madrid in CL semi final, Arsenal in the league last season when we knew they would bottle it, and the murderers when they were running us down

Only saw a bit of the Arsenal v Ipswich game tonight, as it was boring as hell.
But, it reminded me of a typical City match this season.
A very slow, methodical build up, with little risk or jeopardy with the passing.
But, the atmosphere, for an evening game at Christmas, was very disappointing.
Just don't think any of the Top 6 teams have a loud, boisterous atmosphere any more...

It wasn’t that bad. This was also just after we had almost conceded and probably should have done given it was 4 on 2 and then De Bruyne spraying the ball straight into touch with the last kick of the game.
Brighton got booed off v Brentford today, it’s what frustrated fans do after a disappointing performance

This is laughable. Who knows who is leaving early, how many are leaving early, where they live and their travel arrangements?

People leave games early. They left early before. They’ll leave early again. No amount of hot air will change that. Whether that’s City or any other club.

In fact the only thing I am prepared to predict is that it will get worse due to The Co-op venue.
Said it many times on here that it’s contagious leaving early.

Gets a little worse every week. Lots have a valid excuse but thousands don’t.

Many on here tell others it’s none of their business why they leave early, buts the realty is its yet another stick for supporters of other clubs to beat us with about our shit support.

Even if they fixed the dreadful travel and parking I don’t think it would change now. Too many are set in their ways to make a move on 80 - 85 mins.

It's always been the same at every club. Only obvious now because of all-seat stadia.

In the early 60s, the exit gates opened 15-20 minutes from the end at Maine Road, and people were already waiting to get out.
When we were nippers, that was when we (about 30 or 40 kids on average) used to bunk in for free.
