Atmosphere 2024/25

Or leave the away fans split over 3 tiers and install safe standing in SSL3. I sit/stand in 315 and enjoy having the away fans up there. Adds to the atmosphere etc.
That’s the only reason why I’m sat there. The proposal to replace with away fans one of the few places in the stadium that actually starts some songs is very weird.

You'll be sat / stood above & to the side of the away fans but with even more singers and better acoustics.

SSL3 can then be made all standing.

Imo....we should'nt be relying on away fans making a noise for City fans to respond,we should be making a racket of our own !!

Everton fans made noise on BD but there was not a peep from City fans in response !!

The 'songs' on Thursday were an EMBARASSMENT !!

It’s not funny or even remotely topical. We’re the sixth top scorers in the league and have scored in 10 of the 13 games in this poor run of form.

If we were on a goalscoring drought, it would be decent hallows humour.
If 'gallows humour' is singing.....
"we've scored a goal"
"how shit must we be"
"city's going down".....
I think i'll go to the gallows !!

It was fucking EMBARASSING !!

Unfortunately you're always going to get people who are less interested in creating an atmosphere and more interested in standing on the barrier drooling over the away fans.

I do agree with most of what you say, but I'd personally like us to try and put everything into making the North Stand a proper home end, and if there's enough demand for it after a season or two, then we could look at transforming SS2/SS3 into a 2nd home end.

Agreed. I think the focus should be on the North Stand initially, and trying to make it work as the dedicated vocal home end with extensive safe standing. Structurally, with its massive upper tier and improved accoustics, it's purpose built to be a home end so it'd be a waste not to use it as such.

I think that it would be easier to convince people from all areas of the ground to move to NSL2, be it those currently close to the pitch on level 1, or those further back on levels 2 and 3. There must be many who would be unwilling to move to SSL3 because it's high and far from the pitch, however on the expanded NSL2 there is a wider range of views.

If you are on level 1 now and want to be part of the new home end but don't want to be 2 tiers up from the pitch, as you would be on SSL3, you could compromise and move nearer to the front of NSL2. Still not as close as many would like, but it would be the best compromise for keeping singers together under one roof. I also think this would be the best chance of convincing some of those in the existing safe standing sections to move. If you are on levels 2 and 3 now, you could move to an equivalent safe standing seat on NSL2 (in terms of proximity to the pitch).

This would however need the club to provide more than the currently planned 3000 rail seats at the back of NSL2 and bring them as far down to the front as possible (a shame someone decided to put a Joe's style GA+ section at the very front). We also need the expanded part of NSL2 to have equivalent pricing to what's currently in SSL3, with cheap seats at the back and more expensive at the front. It would help demand for relocations massively if someone could move from their seat in SSL3 to an equivalent seat over in NSL2 at the same price.

If the club pushed this enough starting ASAP, I think the expanded NSL2 could definitely be filled by season ticket holders who want a safe standing vocal section. I believe the demand is there, from current vocal but split up sections, frustrated singers around the ground and new (unfortunately flexi) gold season ticket holders.

If this doesn't work, either because of lack of club desire or lack of fan desire, then we should focus on SSL3.

I intend to move to NS2 when it opens, if it turns out to be a dud, I'll move to SS3. I really want this to work and am prepared to give up my SS1 seat to be a part of it, I hope others do the same, its all dependent on how much we want this.

I’m 315, about half a dozen or so rows from the back, I wish they would put rail seating up there. We stand for the big games but sit for the rest. It’s much better standing, and helps with the atmosphere, but I’m not thick skinned enough to stand when people behind me are sitting. The back dozen or so rows, right the way across SS3 should be standing.

It's not about being thick skinned mate, it's being considerate, if someone wants to sit who's behind me, Id explain that I prefer to stand and would offer to swap and go behind them so I'm not blocking their view

I too love it in 315. I like seeing the pain & whites of the aways eyes.

Occasionally it's fucking horrendous leaving with the rags being giddy a few weeks ago as an example but, as someone once said ez football.

However, for footballing purposes shoving them down the bottom would be better.
