Atmosphere 2024/25

Been there when it's been great - and we've lost, been there when it's been poor - and we've won. And the other ways around, granted.
Don't think it affects performance in the way we're brow beaten into thinking it does. Managers, players, own fans etc.
Anyway, you're right - leave you to your thread. Watching us respond and the opposition fold, will be great.
‘We feel it, it’s intense’…

Our record against Liverpool at home under Pep: P10 W5 D4 L1 F24 A11
The one game we lost, we absolutely dicked them in the first half but the officials fucked us… it was the CL game in 2018. A couple of those draws had pretty poor atmospheres.

Then on the flip side, the most intimidating and best atmosphere we ever face each season is at Anfield (I know many Blues don’t like admitting that, but it really is true, it’s always a cauldron there for us), and our record against Liverpool away under Pep is: P8 W1 D3 L4 F11 A15
The one game we won was when there were no fans there.

When you have an opposition player admitting that his team feels the atmosphere at the Etihad, it does show that when a set of fans is at it, they can make a difference in the game.

So a 50% win record, whilst we've been good in our intense atmosphere? Thank God it's such a cauldron now. Wonder what it was when we weren't that good, but had the Kippax in full voice.
I'm converted.
Always interesting to get Trent's take on things.

Good to hear it from an opposition player. When we're on it, the atmosphere can't be faulted. It would just be nicer if we were on it more often. Pretty sure Liverpool have that same problem as well, along with most other clubs in the league. I still think the atmosphere that night we beat them at home in 2018/19 season was one of our best ever. And it wasn't so much the songs themselves. It was more the hostility than anything else.

I actually think we might see a bit of an improvement in atmosphere going forward due to this poor run of form we're on. As fans, we've had it too easy for too long and complacency can set in.

Fans need to be on it Sunday. Can't be having away end full of people with cameras out and just stood there. Need to be right behind the lads. They need us

There was someone wearing a United hat in our away end at Anfield last season and there are always Liverpool fans in there. A Blue threw one down the aisle steps one year. There was a row of Hajduk Split fans supporting Liverpool in our away end one year there n’all.

Our atmosphere is always shite at Anfield. It’s not a proper City away end.

Turn it on its head though. Weve only won one at klanfield, and that was without fans. The hostile atmosphere works wonders for them. Look what it did to players like Sterling, a 15 to 20 goal a season man in our system. Even a small percentage extra from a player who is really up for it can swing the game.

Newcastle getting beat 0-2 at home by West Ham and you can hear a pin drop inside St Jame’s Park. Another myth about one of the best supporters and atmospheres in the PL.

Newcastle have not won four titles in a row. Our atmosphere isn’t the atmosphere of multiple winners.

Nothing to do with tourists, at home. No reason why old school blues attend the game and stay silent, we all know them and sit near them. They’re probably reading this now.

It’s a multitude of reasons, however the main two have to be we’ve become spoilt and too expecting. Call me mad but there’s something nice turning up and not expecting to win a game.

If you persist and are loud enough others will join In.

It’s premier league grounds full stop. When you take into account we are one the big teams that people want to beat now not many grounds are loud when visiting. Equally a degree of the game being marshalled to much of the pitch (standing up being reported, people moaning at language used etc ) which in turn makes people become apathetic my old man being one of them he hates the way football has gone and as a resulted is less excited. How many does that apply to.

When the chips are down is when the noise comes from our fans!

Probably because the football at the moment isnt exactly inspiring, in fact when we went behind 3-0 it’s the most we’ve been up for it in the crowd in a long time. Most games in recent seasons barring Liverpool, arsenal and the scum have been training games, every fucker sitting back behind the ball, we just going side to side hoping to find the space to score. Now we are in a major blip for the first time in years I have a feeling that could change the atmosphere especially with the rags coming up and the shite that’s coming with the new messiah.

The scum have 'come up' one place to 12th.

Only the big rivalries or games with jeopardy produce big atmospheres.

Understandably most City fans at most home games want and expect to be 'entertained'.

Away games are usually a racket front start to end with defiance.
