people watching on tv complaining about the noise, just fuck off .,I was in the family stand and I got to say the people in the singing section gave as good as they got, well done guys, the atsmosphere was fine,ok not bouncing but no better or no worse than expected, and by the way stop blaming "day trippers ,tourists,a least they go,
Just out of intrest was 'when the blues go marching in' noticeable. It fucked my boice trying to keep it going for 20 mins in the corner
I know it wasn't directed at me, but it was noticeable from the Family Stand.

Yes it was noticeable and well done to those that tried hard to keep the atmosphere going.

Personally I didn't think it was much different to any other games we play at home. They are almost all shit.

The gap between the singing section and the cardboard cut outs is too big. Move the away fans and bring them together. The cut outs might even start singing again.

It's more noticeable at European games as the away fans make more racket than English clubs fans. Liverpool fans didn't sing a song until 30 mins in recently.

Best atmosphere at our new ground ? Hamburg IMO, was it £10 tickets?

No cheaper £5 , sold out in no time.

Yep,i remember being a bit pissed off as i had attended all the other home games but ended up in the third tier for that one. What an atmos, though !. Would love to get that back.

Anyone think it would be good if we did what Napoli, Basel and Dortmund do, when they score the announcer reads out the first name with the crowd screaming the second name?

No.
Why don't need to copy others (even though the Poznan was fun for a while).

We just need to be noisy. That's all. Noisy. Scream for handballs, throwins, and every decision possible.

Just think it would sound excellent with 46000 blues screaming Aguero after he scores v the rags in the league.

We've got to get 46K in the ground first!
I think the stadium doesn't lend itself all that well to the atmosphere either, but that might change with the expansion. I've never really liked how the away fans split the two main signing sections and because of the design of the stadium there are no big 'walls of sound' behind the goals, Hard to explain, but I'm on about only having two tiers at either end, making it difficult to have Kop or Stretford end type hard core. The expansion MIGHT help that, but the away fans need moving out of there (imo).

Personally I used to like the lights going out, and the blue moon.... but that's stopped now (safety reasons?). Blue Moon played too early last night, and often in PL, it's left so late, there's not quite enough time to sing it through properly. It's all just a bit happy clappy at the moment. I don't want a Galatasary level of intimidation, but I do want an atmosphere that leaves kids thinking 'WOW, that's incredible, when can we go back?"

They should play this just before kick of ;)

Correct mate
Folk are obsessed though with the atmosphere, empty seats, early leavers, worried what it looks like on t.v or the ribbing their rag mates may give them, fucking sad.

Why do people keep bringing the rags into it makes me wonder who's REALLY bothered about the rags, no one mentioned the rags.

Jesus Christ if there is no atmoshpere at football you might as well stay at home on the couch , footballers get spurred on by a good atmosphere, you do know that don't you,
You think us singing a bit more last night would of changed that result?
Stop talking bollocks.

we don't know until that variable can be changed

So 'stop talking bollox' right back at you

Last night was par for the course. I don’t think we’re generally the most vociferous of crowds and I include Maine Rd in that. Yes, we can have our moments - Boro in League Cup semi was especially memorable but, by and large, we’re fairly average when it comes to getting behind the team. Not the loudest, not the quietest, just average. Games when you’d expect it to be absolutely bouncing - QPR in 2012, West Ham last season, neither were especially “loud”, Hamburg was v.good, there’s been a few derbies to get the nerves a tinglin’ with the passion but overall, nowt special. And last night was no different.

And let’s not conflate good backing with good attendances. That’s not my point. We have and have had some of, if not THE best followings over the last 20-30 years. But we’re not noticeably vocal - at home anyway.

I believe the atmosphere carries a lot of teams over the line.

Liverpool for years had a wall of sound shouting for every decision, and it won them a fair few decisions over the years. It actually helped Liverpool last season too... the moment that lot thought they could actually win the thing, it became a snowball.

The same with United... the atmosphere carried them over the line so many times I can't even begin to count.

It makes a difference, no doubt about it. It won't turn a lousy team in Bayern beaters, but it could shift the balance by 10%, enough to turn a draw into a win.
