Atmosphere tonight

The block in 223 is given to "Friends of UEFA" (which basically means executive package away fans). There were maybe 100 in a block of a few hundred last night.... I think there's a similar block in the East Stand.

Yes that would make sense, as they are right above us and possibly in 222 also - every CL game. But it's clearly a formal allocation. Down in 123 and 122 it doesn't appear to be formal at all, they are just interspersed all over and clearly a bit 'shy' about being away fans. I don't know if it's the same all over the stadium though, but suspect it might be,

Atmosphere last night wasn't to bad, Roma sang all night as do most euro away teams that travel,
It's laughable that a lot who have commented are doing so at what they heard onTV.
Also the ticket prices was reasonable last night so don't think that's why people stayed away, people can only afford what they can afford, so if day trippers take up the tickets that regulars can't afford then that's not a problem, can't expect the owner to throw all that money at the team and facilities and expect them to give the tickets away, think some are becoming a little ungrateful at the amazing investment we have had, would they be happy paying £20/£30 to watch us play the likes of Crewe , Forrest etc or pay that extra for the class we get to watch.

Regarding the singing sections being split, by away fans, iv said it plenty of times before and I recon we only have 2 singing sections because of the away fans, since I can remember going back to the Kippax / platt lane and Kippax / north stand our singers gathered either side of the away fans, it gives the singers something to bounce off , and no reason why the singers haven't / couldn't relocated to just one section of the ground since we moved there, there not being forced to be split..,

I was going to write the same thing earlier. As soon as Maine Road became all seated the two singing ends became the North stand and Kippax AA/BB lower. When we moved to the new stadium as you have highlighted the trend has continued with two unofficial singing sections either side.

That is why I think it is pointless to criticise the club re: singing sections being separated as fans have chosen to create two banks around the away fans. Even if that was not the case ample opportunity over the years to alter this has not been taken. Not sure why some fans expect the club to evict fans from their seats to create a singing section when the fans have been the decision- makers in the current ground composition.

These two highlighted areas indicate that you have not been following thus debate AT ALL over the years

The phrase ... 'even if that was not the case [,] ample opportunity over the years to alter this has not been taken' merely begs the question: it is not per se , an argument supporting one side of the debate..

It depends on what debate you refer too not that there even needs to be a debate. Fact is our more vocal fans have split into two sections either side of the away fans. Coincidentally that was exactly the arrangement at Maine Road. The fans were the decision-makers as its where they chose to purchase their seats.

Operation one end is an interesting proposal but prior to the ground extension it would have led to the displacement of fans in other blocks where the away fans would need to be sited.

Anyway two thousand seats on the bottom tier will shortly become available in an excellent area to influence the atmosphere. Hopefully this could provide an opportunity. Are fans concerned at the atmosphere prepared to move to these seats? Has consultation occurred with the club about possibly bringing more singers together by utilising these seats?

I think a singing section would be brilliant.

I agree but unofficially we already have that. You can call it a singing section but if people choose not to sing

It's clear Scholes and Ferdinand have a very selective memory. Or no memory at all.

Paul Scholes and Rio Ferdinand slammed the Etihad atmosphere... do they remember Old Trafford's 'prawn sandwich brigade' and United selling cut-price tickets to kids?

depresssing. same old talk. going round in circles every few months on here.

1894 had a forum on here last year to get people involved. they were shouted down. sneered at. it was pulled because no-one used it and people just posted on the main board. that was a chance to help them grow and become even more organised.

talking about improving it is still apathy. it's not actually doing anything to help.

the ball is in the club's court. fluffy match day experiences, incorrect pricing, attracting the wrong type of fans, not looking after the hardcore - and great point made by someone on here, not doing anything to engage with City's youth fans

what was that thing at the start of the season. Cityzens. and the fan who got to work at the club. what was that all about. what has that achieved.
too much concentration on the big statements and not enough focus on listening to the hardcore fans who could transform the atmosphere if people gave them the tools to do the job.

+1

If the fans and the club really wanted to change the atmosphere at the Etihad, they could.

Our only chance is to make blocks 115 and 114, currently holding away fans, into proper and dedicated singing sections, when the away fans are relocated in 2015.

Nothing short of embarrassing. We were playing ROMA, a massive European club in the biggest competiton in the world.

All you could hear were the ROMA fans - theres no sugar coating in or excuses - it was PATHETIC.

We are put to absolute shame when it comes to these European clubs home games. Look at the atmosphere at the likes of Dortmund, Napoli, Liverpool etc. Players dread playing away to these teams because of such an intimidating atmosphere. For gods sake the Roma players must have thought they were playing at home.

The reason we are not a success and have not hit the magic formula in the Champions League - its the fans. The fans not getting behind the team, creating the intimidating atmosphere for opposition players and getting right behind the team.

Far too many fans on here saying they have given up supporting the team in the 'Chumps League' and all this bs. Do you think that helps and will change things? Get the hell back out and support the lads, be there and change the atmosphere.

What City needs is non-violent 'City Ultras'. Get a bit of atmosphere going.

Anything really, someone needs to sneak in a few blue flares for flip sake, start bangin our seats up and down our something.

We will never be a top European club the way we are going. Simple.

The one good thing about this is that we, the fans, have the power to change it. F*ck relying on the club to re seat things, introduce displays etc. credit to the club they have tried but the answer is simple, it's down to US. Anything else is just excuses.

Turn up, get your singing head on, get a couple of beers if you need to, then turn up fired up to show the rest of the world what being a City fan means. If you really care about this club you will do it.
