Atmosphere tonight

Turn up, get your singing head on, get a couple of beers if you need to, then turn up fired up to show the rest of the world what being a City fan means. If you really care about this club you will do it.

People still unable to see that there is more than one way to support the club, and care about the club. If you want to sing, great. If you don't thats no-ones business but your own. It doesnt mean you don't support the club or care for the club either way.

Thus this is why it would be better to have either a whole Stand or at least a continuous section for supporters who do want to sing and stand for most of the game, and for this to be clearly identified so people know what to expect in the section\Stand they buy a season ticket or a matchday ticket for.

We already have this either side of the away fans and in fairness the club has turned a blind eye to the continuous standing in these areas. Personally I do not get worked up about the atmosphere and have no desire to sit in a singing section.

If my understanding is correct seats will become available at the bottom of the south stand. Have the club been approached about retaining those seats for the singers in blocks 109/110 to create a unified singing block? Would those fans move to create this unified block?

We live in the only country in the world where we have people who don't think the atmosphere is an extremely important part of the match. In my opinion the fans and the atmosphere are as important as the tossers we see every week diving around on the pitch kicking a bag of wind about.

No -

1) these sections are not big enough. as various posters above state, they cannot get tickets in these ends. Block 109 and even 110/111 until recently are hounded by showsec if they sing, stand, swear. (Why the fcuk are you in 109 if you don't want to be around this by the way?)

2) for me the south stand are crap anyway (And I used to stand there - again when showsec used to tape off rows for standing). NOw the whole south stand is left to stand, yet get outsung by a few extra in the corner?

People forget how the atmosphere has moved. I've moved between south stand, north/east corner (everybody seems to forget that was where the club tried to get a 'singing' area) and then the more recent change of 110/111. When I wasn't a season ticket holder I could never get a ticket where I wanted and had to put up with the north/colin bell. Hell for the derby a few years ago I was in the bell stand (close to south stand) with people sat in blankets eating boiled sweets; laughing at the 'new' songs I was singing....

I think it would be ideal, and maybe with the new stand something might be worked out. I think the club might be reluctant to turf people out of their seats after managing the North stand and 2nd level evictions pretty dismally (IMO). But in an ideal world something would be worked out where those that want to jump, sing and make lots of noise can do so.

Nothing short of embarrassing. We were playing ROMA, a massive European club in the biggest competiton in the world.

All you could hear were the ROMA fans - theres no sugar coating in or excuses - it was PATHETIC.

We are put to absolute shame when it comes to these European clubs home games. Look at the atmosphere at the likes of Dortmund, Napoli, Liverpool etc. Players dread playing away to these teams because of such an intimidating atmosphere. For gods sake the Roma players must have thought they were playing at home.

The reason we are not a success and have not hit the magic formula in the Champions League - its the fans. The fans not getting behind the team, creating the intimidating atmosphere for opposition players and getting right behind the team.

Far too many fans on here saying they have given up supporting the team in the 'Chumps League' and all this bs. Do you think that helps and will change things? Get the hell back out and support the lads, be there and change the atmosphere.

What City needs is non-violent 'City Ultras'. Get a bit of atmosphere going.

Anything really, someone needs to sneak in a few blue flares for flip sake, start bangin our seats up and down our something.

We will never be a top European club the way we are going. Simple.

The one good thing about this is that we, the fans, have the power to change it. F*ck relying on the club to re seat things, introduce displays etc. credit to the club they have tried but the answer is simple, it's down to US. Anything else is just excuses.

Turn up, get your singing head on, get a couple of beers if you need to, then turn up fired up to show the rest of the world what being a City fan means. If you really care about this club you will do it.

Amen to that Sir :D

Everybody has a right to offer their support in the manner they chose (barring violence / racism etc).

However, one of the prime draws of top end football is the atmosphere of a 'big match'. Fundamentally, we're at City to support our team, and if we're lucky, witnessing some great football, and finally seeing some of the world's greatest players from both teams.... but the atmosphere adds so much to the experience.

Now, if someone really doesn't like to sing or chant, that's their business. Nobody should be expecting or forcing them to, but equally, I believe it's important to acknowledge that the atmosphere is created (largely) by those that make an effort to sing, bring banners, partake in the Posnan etc. IF we want a better atmosphere, we have to look to ourselves and contribute on a personal level.

I cannot blame the boring bloke sat next to me if I'm not prepared to do a bit of singing myself. I cannot criticise people strolling in from the concourse 5 minutes late if I'm doing similar myself. If we want this 'mighty atmosphere' we each have to start getting in our seats a good 10 mins before kick-off (possibly sooner). We need to start signing more. And it would do no harm if the club helped things along with a tiny bit of co-ordination that made sure Bluemoon got an effective airing, and some sense of 'drama' with dimmed lights, or SOMETHING. We don't need lots of plastic flags or polythene seat signs, just a few 'cues' to get in our seats and sing our hearts out.

Atmosphere ultimately isn't someone else's job to create. It's ours. It's in our hands.
I'm going to make a concerted effort to do a bit more singing. If we all do that, the problem will be solved.

Thanks for volunteering. You start and we'll follow. Tell us where you sit so we can watch out for you (bet he's sat right next to me and I'm the boring bastard).
