Atmosphere yesterday

I'm sick of defending it tbh, every set of fans that have played us that I work with have said to me after the game, great stadium, great team but shite support and it is ringing true, I actually fear the expansion (the way it is planned) is going to make the atmosphere even worse as it spreads the fans that do attempt to create a bit of atmosphere even further away from each other!

Is part of it an acoustics problem with the stadium itself? Or is it simply down to the fans?
I'm not trying to offend you but that is a stupid excuse people try and use. There isn't enough people singing to make an atmosphere, the stadium doesn't sing for you

Ogden has been sticking the knife in again in todays telegraph about the So Called lack of atmosphere.

What do you call it?

It's catch 22, the fans like exciting football to get us going and we therefore sing. The players normally play with more urgency and provide more exciting football with a better atmosphere....

As for the away fans, personally, it always feels like the away support is quality and the home shit because you're all there pissed up and to make noise!

Mark Ogden in the Telegraph.

1 This stadium is too quiet for a title tilt
If Manchester City are going to win the title, they are going to have to do it without the passionate support that appears to be driving Liverpool towards the finishing line. The Etihad Stadium has always lacked the atmosphere of a traditional ground, but 72 hours after Manuel Pellegrini’s team experienced the full force of the Anfield experience, the contrast between the two stadia was stark. For lengthy periods, the Etihad was silent as City struggled to build on Fernandinho’s second-minute opener. With three more games to play at home this season, there may come a point when the City fans are needed to become the 12th man, but there was no sign of that happening on Wednesday night.

Was this **** Ogden at the 1-0 v rags when Vin scored.

The atmosphere was amazing that night, akin to Anfield on Sunday, and the rags played as if they were cowed by it

Knobs like him don't get football. The atmosphere for a game against a non direct rival will never rival that for a game against direct rivals unless it's a title clincher in itself. Had we been playing Liverpool at home last weekend the atmosphere would've been top notch.

I'm going to make this point again and hope someone from City reads it, because it pisses me off.

They regularly do the call to arms on Twitter, telling us to bring our flags, inflatables and singing voices.

What are the people in that picture doing? STANDING UP to wave their flags and inflatables.

The behaviour of the club and its hired guns (ShowSec) INSIDE the stadium is a contradiction to what they are asking for there.

Only a very select number of blocks are allowed to stand up and that is where what little noise there is comes from.

Yet against Sunderland, the match they asked people to bring flags/inflatables/singing voices, ShowSec were at their aggressive worst in trying to get the outer fringes of the 'allowed' standing area, Block 109, to sit down... no doubt with the threat of bans or eviction (it's happened to several in there).

So how, Manchester City, are we supposed to follow your instructions when you do NOTHING to facilitate an improvement to the atmosphere? The sterile atmosphere can be blamed in part on the fans, but in my opinion more on the club that does everything it can to stop fans having fun. People are INTIMIDATED into not expressing themselves by the pervasive feeling of 'sit down and shut up' that has spread around the ground.

Either create more areas to stand, sing, wave your flag/bananas, or stop pretending to care about the atmosphere and let our ground replace the Emirates as the laughing stock of English football.

NB: I know many want to sit, more than want to stand. But there are ways to drag those who want something different together elsewhere in the ground. Club campaigns, empowering the 1894 Group to 'recruit', or something. I am just one of many who would relocate if they freed a few blocks post-expansion for a big atmosphere project.

Lazy fans.

Ask yourself, did you contribute to the atmosphere last night? I'm guessing you didn't. So if you didn't, why didn't you?

And if you didn't shout or sing or cheer, don't complain about the atmosphere or lack of it.

As I said, lazy fans.

i must admit ive hated the atmosphere this year. Im 16 and a large percentage of the match day experience for me is the togetherness and atmosphere. The view from my seat when we are attacking one end is also shit and as lots of our games are now on tv, infact id probably have the same atmosphere watching games at home on my own. I just have this small voice in my head that is telling me to give up my season card especially as my price does a big jump from the under 16 band to 16-17 band plus the increase we will be charged of probably at least an extra 5 percent. And it kills me to actually have a part of me telling me to give up my season card but its just how i feel. Also btw this is not just because we lost today. Anyone else feel the same?

Does your mother know you was up that late?
im in america in the moment, sorry to ruin your joke
