Atmosphere yesterday

Look on this very Forum and you will see the problem….too many fucking moaners who expect to see some of the world's best players win every game by 4 goals, and all for a fiver, so they can buy all the piss they want before the game, at half time and after the game!!

Best atmosphere I have seen at the Etihad was the Hamburg game, where we were chasing the score and could not get over the line. That was when we were just getting back on the map and trying to build a team. Maybe the Sheikh's gazillions has made us THINK that we are somehow ENTITLED to win, have a good atmosphere regardless?

Remember the QPR game? Was the crowd willing to team on, or were people sitting there biting their finger nails and barely making a sound…..UNTIL THE GOALS WENT IN!

In fact, when City fans sing "Come on City!" it is almost always a derisory chant, like "Get your finger out, City" and nothing like the kind of chant needed.

We are LONG PAST the time needed for a SINGLE, STANDING, BEHIND THE GOALS, SINGING SECTION like we see at the TOP EURO stadiums. I hope that during the Etihad expansion, we move the away fans into a pokey corner like they usually provide for City fans away from home, and we get a brand new "soon-to-be-iconic" Kippax behind the South Stand goal….even though it LOOKS like that will NOT happen.

But then that's just me.

Is part of it an acoustics problem with the stadium itself? Or is it simply down to the fans?

Well put this way the moans and groans sound great. Nothing to do with acoustics. It's purely down to whether you have a desire to back your team you support. We have none apart from a couple of hundred in the corner.

We've become very complacent (I hate to say it Ragish) in our attitude to the game these days IMHO. We have some great talent and seem to think that they will lift us, not the other way around

The atmosphere is not helped by ever changing faces on a weekly basis taking large blocks of seats (tourists). While I realise that these people are part of our growth and success, they do dampen the atmosphere as they do not make their voices heard in any way

My solution give these transient fans a section and leave the regulars to their own areas also, promote the building of relationships and get the volume lifted

The sooner we get the authority to mirror places like Durtmund with their standing sections, these issues start to go away...

The sooner the better for me

i must admit ive hated the atmosphere this year. Im 16 and a large percentage of the match day experience for me is the togetherness and atmosphere. The view from my seat when we are attacking one end is also shit and as lots of our games are now on tv, infact id probably have the same atmosphere watching games at home on my own. I just have this small voice in my head that is telling me to give up my season card especially as my price does a big jump from the under 16 band to 16-17 band plus the increase we will be charged of probably at least an extra 5 percent. And it kills me to actually have a part of me telling me to give up my season card but its just how i feel. Also btw this is not just because we lost today. Anyone else feel the same?

There was a good ten minute spell last night when the atmosphere was a bit more like it should be all the time. We were trying to lift the team and frankly got fuck all in return from a passionless and heartless set of players. You usually see a response but last night there was nothing.

I remember the 1894 Group saying the club would play old music to get fans into their seats quicker. I heard Boys in Blue for about 15 seconds just before they came out, which quickly became Right Here, Right Now.

TBF to the club, they have that great video that says "15 minutes to go, please take your seat" then highlights of great moments and our fans........... while about 5,000 people have actually taken their seat, with the South Stand and Kippax corner mostly deserted.

A good atmosphere should begin to build before kick-off IMO, but when our singing sections can't fill up before kickoff, not much hope of that.

exactly ! and a contact at the club said they would arrange doves pounding and boys in blue to be played in full ! that might have built it, got a bit of passion. pointless playing it for 15 seconds has to be played in full.

but this is it. we (1894) get assurances and told this will definitely happen and that will definitely happen and then it doesn't happen.

we suggest these things because you know they will bring out more passion than glossy videos in slow-mo of previous goals

Ogden has been sticking the knife in again in todays telegraph about the So Called lack of atmosphere.

At some stages of the game it was like watching an EDS game, you could heat the players talking to each other, not good.
