Attacks in Paris

Certainly the latter but with great respect defending religion is not a job for the likes of me. I do wish folk with firm atheist convictions would respect those of people of religious faith though. Karen Armstrong has written extensively on the subject of violence and religion which I found helpful in trying to understand what is happening. Here is a link to a article which summarises her views .

No, not all violence is predicated on religion, but blind faith in unprovable deities based on what someone else claims they said ....well, that doesn't exactly help.

Do you have proof of that?

It's just as far as I'm aware IS are Rick as they control a fuck load of oil. Qatar's ruling class would stamp down on Qatari sponsorship.
At the start IS received money from the Gulf but I doubt very much that they receive any now

More concern for Europe is that it has been confirmed that at least one had traveled through Greece presumably as a refugee, Mrs Merkle has a lot to answer for by just opening the door and allowing everyone in with no checks

To be fair to this thread it has come out pretty much that not all muslims are to blame but all to blame are muslim. Nobody has said blame all muslims or any orf the talk you are alluding to. A few of us have read the quran and are quiet aware of it's teachings but in general that is for another thread.
I have met a large chunk of the posters on here and they are normal chaps who will and do chat with anyone. This is not some little britain society bud.

One fella said islam is basically bad juju but that is for another thread also imo.

The fact we get to debate religion here is a a lot more freedom than some people in certain countries are afforded.

Spot on mate. Sure, there is the odd daft comment on threads like this that will appear to paint everyone with the same brush but the rest of us just want the perpetrators of this madness dealt with along with their twisted ideology and I'm sure every law-abiding Muslim would agree, given that these nutters have already killed far more Muslims than non-Muslims. How this gets addressed I've no idea due to how complex the situation is but I don't see many people on here going all in and advocating ridiculous things such as marching on Rusholme and torching all the curry houses, etc.

he missed the full statement from the greek authorities that ended with

Syrian passports are known to be valuable currency amongst those trying to enter Europe, and it is not confirmed yet whether the holder of the passport is indeed the perpetrator.

Yeah but lets not let the truth get in the way of some sensational ranting eh?

Didn't take long for it to happen did it? They said they would flood Europe with terrorists, granted 1 person & attack isn't a flood but you can be sure there are plenty more that used the guise of refugee to get into Europe. The problem is its relatively easy to monitor and gain intelligence on British citizens, but we now have to deal with thousands who refuse to give their identities to the authorities and are basically John Doe's.

You can be sure that the war on terrorism has got a whole lot harder, the reality is there is no quick solution.

Listen to yourself? Armchair M15 or what? All we know is that someone with the same name came through Greece. As has been stated elsewhere Syrian passports are currency - Syria is in a state - the gunman could be travelling on a forged document or the guy in Greece could have a forged document he presented to the authorities there. Its less than 24 hours since the attacks started lets not use this tragedy as a means to promote our own narrow agenda's eh?

A vigil in Lille has reportedly turned sour after anti-Islam protestors, carrying flares and a banner that read ‘Expel the Islamists’, clashed with those paying their respects in the city’s place de la Republique. the Guardian has a video of it

Also Bono has made a statement about how this is the first attack on music and those that like and listen to it.
“Our first thoughts at this point are with the Eagles of Death Metal fans,” Bono told the Dave Fanning Show on Irish radio 2FM today.
The U2 star added: “When you think about it, the majority of victims from last night’s attacks were music fans.
“So this really is the first direct hit on music we’ve had on this so called war on terror.
“We know that they don’t like music… and this and the cold blooded aspect of last night attacks are what are really upsetting because it means it could have been any of us.

This is another thing that's wrong with society, "let me just stand here and watch people get slaughtered whilst I video it on my phone"

True mate.
If you look closely there's a guy lying down badly injured at the main entrance, he's moving and judging by his body language he's pleading for help yet this guy's interested in how many retweets he can on twitter

Ok Sherlock why did nearly all of the young men who jumped off the boats in Greece leg it as fast as they could or cover their faces when a camera was pointed at them, even the Lebanese president said a large proportion of the young men are radicalised Islamists, the Greeks have confirmed that the gunman is the one who landed on Leros beach
