Attacks in Paris

Glad to see the French Special Forces hace tracked down the remaining scum and are putting them to the sword. One has been taken down by a sniper, hope they capture the mastermind alive and he spends the next 70 years in a 3 by 3 concrete cell eating nothing but porridge twice a day.

Agree, alive is the key so to hear 2 have been captured rather than killed is good news. If these guys really are EU kids being converted to extremism then we need to test their resolution with some serious interrogation and gain as much info as we can.

Sad to hear another innocent has apparently been caught up in the operation this morning, and I applaud the English and French FAs for going ahead with the game last night, it is important to not be intimidated from living our daily lives, and to show that we can go ahead with our lives.

I am not saying any of this is not good or necessary. However to rely on this and cut funding in other areas??? The Police chiefs are all saying they will not be able to function properly.

Look at Paris this morning. Into the 5th day on high alert and look at the manpower the French can throw at the situation to deal with it and contain it.

Transfer that to London. Imagine the same but with 20% less next year. How many of the 1900 new spooks from GCHQ will be there with guns and shields? See? What I am saying is you cannot as a government claim to have beefed up your cyber security to protect business and govt websites and cut other security funding and make any realistic claim to be protecting your country and its citizens properly - particularly not in these times - even more so if we want to expand into other theatres of operations in the Middle East. An ISIS terror cell would look at that and lick their lipsin anticipation.
 
Why do people keep distinguishing between 'extreme' and 'moderate' religious types?

As far as I see being religious (properly religious, not just those people who tick yes on the census) is an extreme position. You're submitting yourself to a doctrine based purely on blind faith and are completely inflexible in that view.

Christian: "God put Adam and Eve on Earth"

Atheist: "No, we evolved from monkeys *provides 200 years of scientific evidence*"

Christian: "No i'm not having it, bible says Adam and Eve"

Atheist:"Well what can I say to change your mind?"

Christian: "Nothing, I believe in the word of God"

Atheist: "Err okay but you're wrong"

Christian: "am not, it's my belief and you aren't allowed to challenge it with things like facts and science. That's discrimination!"

Most Christians don't believe that at all although some do. Just like some atheists seem to believe we evolved from monkeys which is also wrong according to current scientific knowledge/theory.

Anyway sorry to derail the thread further.
 
really confused situation in Paris this morning - they are saying the mastermind of Fridays attack may have been holed up in the flat they raided in St Denis - its said to be about a mile from the Stade de France? Why hole up so near to the scene of Fridays attacks? One of the bombers fled back to Belgium - they know that coz he was stopped and released at the French/Belgian border?
Planning more attacks? If so why does the mastermind have to be at the heart of the operation? One would think he would do what he needs to at arms length? There are many ways to instruct via modern comms - or is he such a mastermind he wants to martyr himself? Is he such a mastermind they are willing to let him do so? You'd have thought his organisation would want him to plan and execute other raids?

Atheist: "But there is no evidence to back you up, your reading a book written by men not by a god."

Christian: "Gaaaaahhhhh Praise GOD" *shoots you in the face*

Could you imagine what boots on the ground would be like? Having to go through towns where you don't know who is a civilian and who's ready to blow themselves up.

The army already has the horror of what happened in Afghanistan and Iraq fresh in their minds. What do you do infiltrate Isis with special forces or get every NATO member to contribute troops to flood Syria and Iraq? Dropping bombs on them and expecting the Iraq military to fight on the ground isn't working.
