If this is your position, then why do you post dubious statistics to encourage the view that a significant proportion of Muslim support terrorism? I await your list of complaints against other religions that you also claim to dislike.

I never support conspiracy theories. It's quite simple. The Zionists have been supported by the West for around a century in the gradual destruction and theft of Palestine, and the brutal oppression of its people. That's a fact and not a conspiracy. Again, you like to pretend that Israel has nothing to do with Middle East politics and war when it suits ou but are no doubt one of the first to say that, for example, the Iranians want to destroy Israel. I am up to speed with the double speak and propaganda. I see through you all and that's what you don't like.
 
The first problem is that there is no simple solution, this is a very complex problem.
The second problem is that (almost everyone) wants a simple solution.

Bombing the fuck out of Raqqa is a simple solution. It gives some people a warm glow. We are human, we like revenge.
Unfortunately, it will not solve the problem.

So what is the solution? I don't know, it's well above my pay grade. It's even difficult to articulate what the solution might be. People then get frustrated with you. They may even think you sympathise with terrorist scum. For the record, I don't. I hate the bastards with all my heart.

That's why this situation is an absolute dream for politicians who peddle simple solutions. That's why the war will go on a very long time.

Reports that a French police dog was killed in the raid this morning. One female suicide bomber also killed in an explosion, one terrorist killed by snipers. Seven people taken alive.

I am well aware that you are up to speed with double speak and propaganda as you demonstrate it in most of your posts. It actually explains why you want to involve Israel in a discussion about ISIS terrorists attacking targets in France when Israel is completely irrelevant to the discussion. The Palestine issue has been discussed at length on other threads and your views on it are not facts just opinions. I am not pretending that Israel has nothing to do with middle eastern politics but it has no more to do with ISIS terrorist operations than any other western country.

You certainly are. Trying to claim the people who carried out the terrorist atrocities in Paris weren't "real" Muslims because it doesn't suit you to admit they were. Yet you claim you're a proper Muslim although you'd prefer not to be and someone else makes you. And then, when you're losing the argument, try deflect it by bringing Israel into it. I think most on here can see through that.

It's a global issue. The focus on Paris is merely a concentration of those issue at present.

Anyway, I apologise unreservedly for any offence that may have been caused. I'm just used to saying what I feel and think as I live in the Free world. I lived in Dubai for a couple of years and hated it because it was almost the direct opposite of that. I'm moving away from this thread but have something to say on the Etihad Security thread.

BTW the French Muslim organisations are ensuring that all sermons at Friday prayers unconditionally denounce terrorism. A I've said, they've been saying this at Manchester Central Mosque all year and even ask for a show of hands, this vote against terrorism always being unanimous.

You're right. We'll leave the Israel argument for the time to come, and it will. My own theological confusion is a matter for me, of course.

Anyway, I haven't lost the argument. I merely have no interest in being bullied into the majority view. It won't happen, ever.
 
I have some sympathy with Coleridge - imagine if this attack had be carried out by a group of people claiming to be City fans. We'd be quick to denounce them as not true city fans and use York Away as the qualifying criteria. I know that is a huge simplification but just read the media bias thread to see how people respond when something as arbitrary as which football team you support is misrepresented in the media.

A huge problem we have and it is one that is characterised in this thread is that we like to lump whole groups of people together and assume they are all the same. Whether Christians, atheists or Muslims we reduce everything to its lowest common denominator - so all religious people are nutters and all atheists are intelligent and peace loving.

Coleridge is bringing some shade to the idea that IS is an Islamic problem and the incredibly dangerous idea that the Islamic community is doing nothing to condem IS. They don't represent an understanding of Islam that Coleridge ascribes to so he's entitled to say they are not terrorists because they are Muslim and explanations should be sought from wider political and nationalist readings of the ME.

We need less of an us and them mentality as when we see something as different or lesser it's easier to justify doing crap to each other
