If the the away fans dont take up all the allocation will they just have the 2nd tier and top tier?
They should do. But it may depend on how many tickets the away team request. The bottom tier will hold the most, 1500ish at a guess, with 500 in 2 and 1000 in 3. If a team only wanted 1500 (as often happened last season) , I hope City give them 2 & 3 rather than the seats near the pitch where they may have an influence.

Good. It's about bloody time. It is our stadium. They just happen to come along once a year to visit. You don't have a mate come round and stay at your house once a year and give him your nice King Size bed in your nice bedroom, you shove him in the box room on the pull-out bed and he doesn't fucking moan about it as he's just a guest.

Away fans were given pride of place, bang in the prime camera spot, splitting our singing sections up, making it hard for us [the home team in our own stadium] to get an atmosphere going for 12 fucking years! It's about time that changed.

Like i never moan about away sections at other grounds - because i have no right to - they should shut up about our new away section set-up.

Spot on. I thought on Sunday Chelsea's support was quite diluted in comparison to previous seasons. Obviously as the game went on the match situation helped, but splitting up their hardcore a bit more must be a good thing.

They more they moan about it, the more effective it is.

More than 1000 in tier 3. I reckon they will either get tier 1/2 or all 3. Can't see them having home fans directly below the away fans.

Forget all this fiddling about trying to fit a few hundred seats in they should just crack on and get the North stand extended.

As squirtyflower says a whole row of seats were moved from the new stand. One was mine, which meant me seating in the main stand for the chelsea game

I know the capacity is 55000, stupid question but is that once segregation is taken into account? Last year they had netting on the seats is that the same now, if so we could never actually achieve full capacity.

The segregation is virtually non existent by the looks of some pictures I have seen. City fans were literally 6 foot away from Chelsea fans with a metal bar in between them and a few stewards. They will need to look at this for the more spicy games.

Who were the sceptics? Name, names.
I'm not that sad to remember who they were but a sizeable chunk of posters on here were posting anti-expansion stuff. Mainly their arguments being that 47k was just right for us as we don't sell out for cup games. My argument was just build it as big as possible and price it right.

I am still a bit sceptical about the expansion of the North Stand. Hopefully the club will introduce a waiting list, to gauge demand, which should give a clearer picture if it is required.

The club is in unchartered territories in relation to attendances and also consideration has to be given to our clubs legacy. This country and europe is full of stadiums half empty where clubs over-sold themselves without growing the fan base successfully. There is nothing less appealing than stadiums half empty such as Wigans, Boro etc. Being part of a full stadium. In itself generates demand. Over the course of this season we will have a better idea.

I think they already have that waiting list http://www.mcfc.co.uk/tickets/waiting-list

Another badly worded mail by myself. A waiting list which shows the demand is there to make it worth the cost and sustainable in the long term. My understanding is this does not have the £100 deposit???

If we got 10k on this waiting list, like the last one it definitely strengthens the argument for the extension

I would guess 7-8,000 paying the £100 to join the Waiting List will be the trigger point. We normally lose about 2,000 season ticket holders each Summer, which maybe slightly more in future, now we have over 42,000 (including premium seats). I'd imagine we'd want about 47-48,000 season ticket if we went to 60,000+. I think there's still about 2,500 left from the original list who specifically wanted the £299 tickets. I'd like to think we can hit the target during this season and start work this Summer. The following Summer is probably the more likely start point though given we've had a four year continuous construction programme with the CFA project preceding the South Stand expansion. The club may want sometime for snagging work and to consider the possible construction options (three tiers or huge second tier) for the North Stand and general pricing policy for the stadium as a whole. I'd be very surprised though if a start to the work on the North Stand was delayed beyond the Summer of 2017.

You have to remember city - a dug are about to start building 6000 homes in the city.

It will start not next summer but the summer after.

Sorry mate I am probably being a but dumb. So you think this is more likely to make it go ahead? And, if so, before, after or at the same time as the residential development.

No I think city have a lot on with 4 or 5 schemes in ancoats. Let them have a breather from the stadium for a bit. See if we fill the south stand - build up a bit of pent up demand. And go again!

All in good time.

That is how I see things. Lets ensure the demand is there and then build accordingly.

I'm going to make a prediction:-

By the Summer of 2018, as the North Stand expansion nears completion, the Waiting List will be longer than it was this Summer for the South Stand.

I think continued success and the atmosphere generated from regular 54,000+ gates will attract a whole new set of, mainly young, supporters.

success on the field will drive the demand - more premierships, a serious run on the Champions League - and then if we build it they will come (as someone once said)
