Yeah I think they were fool of rockwool as well looking at the pitures of them being brought down. Basically how you would build something to stop sound reflecting!

It will be vastly different & maybe considerably nosier even than Maine Rd, if they build the rest like the new roof. It's even changed the frequency of the reflected noise not just the volume & the sound from everywhere else is bouncing back from there. It will be awesome & imo makes the 'matchday experience' hugely better, thus more people will want to go. Just keep the prices down & we really are going to see something special.

I have to be honest yesterday was the day our stadium started to feel like a football stadium rather than a converted athletics stadium. That might seem extreme but I think a fair comment. The extra 2/3 rows at the bottom reduce the bowl effect and the noise stays in the stadium rather than escaping. I cannot wait for the North End to start. It was great to see so many different fans and new faces there where I sit as well. Imagine an end that holds 12,000 in a single tier. That's what we want at the north - move City Square to the Collar site and it will get even better. Yesterday wasn't just a football game - it was an experience - a pleasure to witness. Let the others go on about finding one empty seat or the minute we get a crowd below 50,000 - ignore it - it is fear. The end looked even better on TV. I love the fact the design of the stadium is future proofed. Its only going to get better.

..and from what I experienced from 116 yesterday, safe standing has already arrived across the whole of the SS, and long may it continue..

It's all discussed on page 21 of this thread. Officially it was the Sunderland cup tie in 1973.
 
With the actual capacity now being 55,097 we could beat the Derby crowd in the near future depending on selling out corporate etc
 
Great atmosphere yesterday. Signs were good when Ferris and Danny said "Tier 3 say hello" before kick off the noise was loud.
Would be good to have a Tier 1 v Tier 3 song. One sings "David Silva" and other sings "Yaya Toure" to the Kolo Yaya song.
Can't wait for the derby.

As someone that's been involved with the 1894 Group since the turn of the year it's good to see posts like this. I can't claim much if any credit for the work that was put into getting this organised - that honour goes to some of the other guys (and gals) who put in a huge amount of effort. One guy literally spent hours and hours sifting through all the applications to relocate to the new section, accomodating some of the less straightforward requests from fans as well as allocating everyone's seat, making sure everyone was grouped with their mates, etc, and when all that was done he had to double check everything to make sure it was all correct. He also enlisted extra help from his parents to help with the checking and double checking!

Then we have the other members of the group that help with the organising of the flags, banners, and displays. All these efforts were rewarded on Sunday with an atmosphere in 114 and 115 that was totally bouncing, aided by a fantastic supporting cast in the new third tier. Some people may be surprised to hear that while it was as good as it was, we want to up our game further and have it even better in the future. Sunday was a great start though.
 
Anyone know when the seats will be going in / going back in around the Service Tunnel? I reckon there's a least 200-300 more to go on the capacity with those seats and with the completion of the remaining front row seats in the CB stand in that area? When can we beat the Sunderland 1973 attendance?
