Australia & Novak Djokovic case

He was given conditional permission, yes. If when he arrives it turns out he hasn't met those conditions, then they are allowed to turn him away.

Obviously it's still to be seen whether it's down to him lying on his application or Australian politicians realising that him being given exemption was deeply unpopular and spotting their opportunity to look like the tough guy in a story about someone rich and famous. Reminds me a bit of that bloke who couldn't wait to get in front of the camera to tell of Johnny Depp when he brought his dogs over.
You mean Barnaby Joyce, our resident clown of a politician. Depp called him tomato head (because he has a round head with a red face)
I've read that Depps wife has called her new dog Barnaby Joyce btw. :)

He had his PCR test on 16/12 if it’s anything like the ones I’ve taken he may not have had the result in time
Furthermore I think this should’ve been all sorted behind closed does via the tennis association Djokovic and the Australian Govt nobody wins the way it currently plays out
I disagree, I think Scomo wins in the polls.
Australians (or prisoners as some call us) are sick and tired of rich celebs getting special treatment when it come to covid, Scomo is getting a lot of brownie points here.

Barnby Joyce does big turds for a small dog...

The brass neck on Nigel Farage wading in on Djokovics’ behalf is hilarious given he’s advocated for Australia’s immigration system for years.

In the end, he’ll get in and be able to compete. Best paid lawyers usually does that, unfortunately.

I've heard that Djokovics now wants to leave. Even he doesn't want to be associated with Farage.

Come on, Farage has been consistent. He's only ever advocated against poor Eastern Europeans being allowed into the country. He's never had any problem with the super rich being able to do whatever they want.

Well, when you first arrived in Botany Bay, you were, you know! (Or you were gaolers…)

;-)

If you haven't read it (but I'm sure you have) you should read the utterly brilliant Fatal Shore by the great Aussie art critic, Robert Hughes. One of the most interesting things about it is how very quickly Oz sorted itself out into classes, with rigid class distinctions, and clubs that former convicts were denied entry to.
Anyway, back on topic: no sympathy with Djoko, but what I find odd is that it's been reported that about 26 other athletes have been allowed in by the authorities who have tested as positive, too. If that's true, it's unjust.

Does make you think that perhaps the guys going across the channel in dinghies should all declare themselves antivax, fleeing the tyrannical vaccine rules if Europe.

It would really confuse the far right nobheads as to which side they should be on
