Australian A League

Melbourne are the powerhouse, first team to win the treble (pre-season, league and grand final) and the only team to win the league twice and the grand final twice. Must say i am a huge A-League fan, watch most games on tv, go to every home Victory game and usually Sydney and Adelaide away, and there is nothing better than beating them away! (other than beating the rags at the swamp of course =P).

The league is only 4 years old, and it has grown a lot since its inception. Established national team players are starting to come back to play including Stejovski and Culina, as well as attracting the likes of Fowler, and previously Dwight Yorke and Juninho (although all were in the twilight of their careers).

Season 5 of the league is 6 or so weeks away, and it looks like it will be the most even season yet, with bottom teams like Perth recruiting strongly, and with the addition of Gold Coast and North QLD things are only looking stronger and getting better.

I reckon it'll be the best season yet. Better players, more even comp, new teams, new stadiums, more games(!) and hopefully bigger crowds on the back of the aforementioned things, and WC qualification. Can't wait!

Haha, I'm actually a lurker there, have been for ages, visit it all the time. Been meaning to sign up for ages as well! Will do soon though and let you know mate.

Went to an A-league game in april last year - Melbourne Vitory v Gamba Osaka. Good value for money, 4-3. First goal in first 3 mins, last goal in last 3. Neither team could defend a set piece, and one ex city boy from the Royle era was the man for Melbourne!
Osaka had a big brazilian CF who was a goal hanging lazy twat, but when he got the ball it was like Lomu in the Rugby.

Be nice if you back me up a little. I am copping a bashing on the forums!! But its ok, i give as good as I get.

i live in northern nsw, and theres no team from there. the past two seasons iv travelled the 3 hours to brisbane to watch the roar play about 20 times.

now theres this new gold coast united side, they're only about 1.5 hours away. i went up there the other day to watch them beat fulham.

so im not sure which im going to support.

a few good years of supporting a team (roar) is hard to throw away. but then again so is the dollars used to drive up ther and back so much.

maybe i'll just support both :P

ps: im going up to brissy to watch the opening match of the a-league this season. brisbane roar v gold coast united. haha

Fowlers still injured hah! Rumours were that he hasnt settled and wanted a move back home already, however they were quashed - it wouldnt surprise me really.

I like both the Roar and Goldcoast (even tho i'm a sydney fan), they play attacking football and its always abit exciting, even if they miss about 20 shots on goal a game ha

lol yeah qld if they had a decent striker!! charlie miller is a gun but he's not a fast lean goal scoring machine. that brazilian reinaldo missed at least 5 chances a game!! lol

I can't see fowler lasting through the heat up there in summer! let alone 5 hour flights for games every second week......
