Australian A League

I've not long moved to Newcastle (North of Sydney). They have Newcastle United Jets here.... haven't been along yet but wondered whether it would be worth it?!

I don't live far from the stadium so I might have to go along and have a few beers. Yes, beers at your seats, you've got to love Australia!

Yeah I bet they would kick off here! Only been to an egg chasing match so far, good laugh though. I don't get the idea of adverts over the tannoy during the game?.. but the cheerleaders make up for any bad points!!

Not sure how many would have seen it but there was a greyhound running at Traralgon at 530pm called "mancity" earlier tonight. Was paying $14 for the win.

Its still running......................

I know this is off topic but I can't start a thread so here goes....

Anyone know where's a good place to get the new strip over here (if anywhere!) or is it a ship from the UK job? I fancy getting hold of the new shirt and definitely the third strip!

I was talkin to a mate last night and coincidentally we said the same thing. can't quite grab the Victory thing....praying that if melboune do get a side it won't be called united!

There seems like theres enough blues in melbourne to organise a meet on match day. I have got a deal with a landlord here in Geelong. If I can get a dozen City fans together we have a pub ready for action on any day. Haven't tested him on it yet but will do against Blackburn. May be a bit far away for most but it would be a laugh.

I would think that the new club being called Melbourne United is extremely doubtful however I remember reading on the Victory forum that someone attended a dinner with people associated with Melbourne Heart (the consortium name only) that there would be a statewide competition to come up with a name for the new club.
Given we have Fury, Victory, Roar, Glory, Mariners, Jets, the winning name will obviously have some sort of ties with that old game show...Gladiators.
I have a list of "friends" here on BM with posters who reside in Melbourne. There are now about 15 including myself. I was actually thinking about organising a meetup probably for the derby game. Given it will be a sunday night at around 10.30pm I thought it shouldnt be a problem if we meet up at the Dickens. Victory will be playing on the friday night before so it shouldnt be too packed and parking will be ok. Obviously there will be some rags there but thats ok. We could make a general announcement on the board that if any UK-based supporters knows any city fans here in melbourne, to ring, email etc to let them know of the meetup.
Geelong is probably too far away for most.

we should call up charles dickens see if they showing the blackburn game?!

As for the shirts i have always bought them offline and before that got a friend to send them over, but i'm thinking they will be getting sold over here now, rebel selling a few clubs these days, and world of soccer in dandenong
