Away ends and tourists

This thread reads like it belongs in the daily mail. Bloody migrants. I'm saying this tongue in cheek before anyone gets offended.

Had 3 Americans next to me and the wife. Two young lads and a girl. Just before kick off the girl came up and she said to the lads she was with "Oh my god all the City people are here singing and drinking beer, it's so funny"

They hardly sang or got behind the team and were to occupied with where Kompany was.

ok.

Kompany was two rows behind me, I had to step out to the gents and couldn't believe how many folks were on the concourse getting pissed.

If Vincent had been two rows behind me I would have been pushing everyone else out of the way so that I could stand beside him and get one of the selfies I've been seeing a lot of on Facebook today!! And then I would have stayed there for the rest of the match standing or no standing!! When I could stand no longer I would have leaned on Vincent............. and swooned!!! ;-)

I was lucky enough to have a huge hug with Vinnie after we won the league and I can understand why the fans were so desperate to get selfies. I love the man but don't think it helped him being there on match day. Going down early certainly never helped the atmosphere and I'm sure I was far more drunk than would be considered acceptable. I gauged this by the fact that I stripped my shirt of and used it as a flag when singing bluemoon, let's hope Pep can turn it around this year

The worrying thing is that we've got the manager we have craved, an unbelievable group of players as there seems to be tons of apathy amongst the support.

It feels like an absolute chore goingbto the match at the minute

Yesterday was the worst I've ever seen for tourists.

There was an oriental family group of about 8 people (3 generations it looked like to me), french speaking middle easterners, Italians, Spanish (Atletico fans), one tall Belgian guy (apparently) and Will Greenwood.

It's always bad at Liverpool, OT, Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea but add in the Christmas factor and you end up with what we saw yesterday.

Almost as amazing to me was the number of Liverpool tourists.
The number of foreign accents supporting them is way beyond whatever we're attracting.
Not sure if regular match going scousers resent them as much as we do.

There was a real sense of simmering resentment in our end yesterday towards the tourists (and not just at the end after the defeat).
I wonder if it might kick off one day, after all we're not averse to fighting amoungst ourselves on away days.
It's always possible the anger could be directed at the tourists.

Had to laugh at you putting Will Greenwood in with the group of tourists you mentioned!

I wasn't there yesterday - decided to sack it off and looking forward to what should hopefully be a far better away day at West Ham on Friday - but when we lost 3-2 there back in 2014 (the day Liverpool won the title), a mate of mine who was elsewhere in the away end said there were a dozen or so Scandinavians near him and all of them were supporting Liverpool. They got a lot of stick from City fans nearby and while I don't approve of such behaviour I can fully empathise with the frustrations felt by many fans to find opposition supporters in the same end as them for what was an in demand, sold out game, not to mention one with so much riding on it.
