Away fans / tourists in home sections

You are misinterpreting my comments. I know City's fanbase isn't racist. That's why a large number of Asian supporters including me are happy to come to watch City.

What I am arguing is that some people commenting in this thread have linked tourists to nationality. And that that is a dangerous argument. You posted an image of an Asian supporter who had made a City hat as if it was something we should laugh at.

Marvin, do fuck off, stop lying, and making it up as you go along.

I posted the picture and never made a comment. Nothing about him being Asian.

You then piled in by accusing me of….. Like you are doing now.

I then replied to you, telling you it was about the item he had got into the ground past security. At the time I didn’t know it was a Coolie hat.

I then said jokingly I would try and sneak a new Fergie cock into the ground at the next home game.

I don’t mind people pulling me up about anything I post, but make sure you get your facts right first before accusing me of doing something wrong and with intent.

Would you have reacted like you have done if it was a white person instead of the Asian person in the picture, would you fuck.

You’ve dragged out your racist nonsense card throughout this thread. When numerous posters have told you it has nothing to do with Asian supporters or City fans being racist. Yet you still keep going on about it. Give it a fucking rest.

And what I’ve heard , a few fans need to stay away for a few homes games as arrests will me made when they identify people from seats , such was the pile on , that people ran ten rows to give the lad a hiding.
Arrests will be made , that’s a certainty.
Yep. This aswell. They have crystal clear cctv. Hope all the hard cunts who twattedna blue get fucked off (tourist or not)..
Note to all. This incident has fuck all to do with the ticket office on this occasion.

Who’s linked the word “tourist” to nationality Marvin ? I’d prefer the word day tripper if I’m honest . Tourist is a euphemism for not being a week in week out regular fan.
I think you’re blowing this out of all proportion.

jrb for a start. And without wanting to be condescending, I usually like jrb's comments. I think there's a general perception that Asian and 'foreign' fans are likely to be football tourists or even away fans. That leads to tension, when we should be happy that Manchester is a non-racist City.

It hurts me when I see 'foreigners' maligned unfairly. If I have misunderstood peoples intentions then other people should be careful to think through the consequences of their argument and how they might be perceived.

I don't think I have made my point very well, and I am too lazy to trawl through the topic for examples. I won't post in it again because I can see that reasonable people are getting annoyed.

If we’re looking at demographics/ profile didn’t the club release figures a few years ago? From what I remember Tameside and the sk8 postcode had the most season ticket holders - lots of mancs who have left Manchester included in that.

We’re all tourists ;)

Just relax a bit Marvin

What about the other thousands of non/City fans in the stadium on sunday and the thousands of Madrid and other fans in the stadium the week before?

This is all in the club’s power to stop and they have ignored the fans on this all season and in previous seasons.

When the fans try to speak to them and point out what is happening regularly all across the stadium they ignore it.

People trying to justify a blue getting twatted by blues because of issues with Liverpool fans, the fact he was a tourist ( I hate it when they get there fucking phones out) or any other reason just need to get a grip. So you can't support City if you are American? Was it the ticket office who threw some pretty nasty digs?
Fucking pathetic. I dont like how our fanbase has become more global but I certainly woupdn't dig a blue for it. Fucking coke heads in 115

I've seen very few fans condoning the fact the person was beaten up, or blaming the ticket office or one particular thing for it happening. It's an accumulation of lots of different incidents that turned what is always quite a highly charged fixture into a powder keg that one small spark was always going to ignite. I wasn't there but I have seen the video. It's a bit unusual that nobody next to him had spoken to him before the incident and realised he was an American City fan. Usually if a strange face pops up next to me I am curious as it's normally the same people, so I chat to them. Yanks are usually chatty as well and I'd imagine he'd be quite excited to be at the game. Also him filming their fans after they scored isn't a trigger as a lot of City fans film the opposition fans. Was he on his own?

Emotion gets the better of people especially in crowds and most had probably had a drink and as you say maybe something else. An unfortunate incident and those involved are probably regretting it now as criminal charges and a banning order will follow.

Anyone can buy a matchday membership. They could be a genuine City fan of course but they could also be a tout, or just someone wanting to make a few quid selling on tickets for big games. This blind faith that it's not fans but the club really is a problem. There are some who simply refuse to believe a word the club says or assume the worst case scenario without a shred of evidence to support their view.

I do agree the club is part of the problem, certainly by authorising a number of partners to sell tickets as part of hospitality packages, as well as not being too careful who it sells hospitality packages to directly. And there are probably other things it could do better.

We aren't a local club anymore, we're a global attraction these days and people need to understand what comes with that. Personally I'm ok with people who aren't City fans having the opportunity of coming to watch us, in the same way I could go a watch a game at another club I'm not a fan of. There's plenty on here who have done that, me included. We can't have it both ways but that's what some on here seem to want.

What we need is for the club to go back to first principles on how it sells tickets and have a genuinely honest and transparent two-way conversation with the fans. The problem is that the club does things that go wrong, then tell the fans, including City Matters, afterwards.

There's a technique in the business analysis field I work in called 'The 7 So-Whats'. It's poorly named as the 'So What" isn't an expression of disinterest but more like "Well if we do that, what's the outcome?" It's also called Second-Order Thinking. The problem is that the only 'So What' question the club asks itself is how much money will we make by doing this. That is unlikely to change while people like Ferrari Soriano and Roel De Vries are running the show.

I think you very much want to push the narrative that it's City fans touting and selling on.

Wasn't it you that pushed the removal of loyalty points for away games due to the mythical problem of "points whoring"??

Re-reading some of the old CM threads and the FG one currently open, it appears you also had a hand in that creation too.

I hope you can see on reflection the problem you were trying to fix for the club (SC holders picking and choosing and leaving empty seats, empithad jibes etc.) was probably a better situation than what we have now.

The 14 game policy, another trojan horse for removing SCs. I can't find anything on here where you've taken credit for that one to be fair but you seem quite proud of the other two

I appreciate it's been bastardised and I've no doubt you thought it was a good idea but I hope you now see that the ticketing sub committee or whatever you called yourselves have played right into their hands.

Just back to the point on rows of seats, blocks etc. It's 100% the club, not blind faith, facts

I listed my ticket for Sunday, it was "sold" within 2 minutes (email confirming it was listed 00:56am, email it was sold at 00:58am) of being put up, and the person in my seat bought it from a ticket site. Is that what the exchange was for?? I think the club has a system that siphons them off to these agencies, no other explanation for it going that quickly at that time of night

You are correct, I have only reacted because of the link that is being made between football tourists and asian supporters which I think is erroneous.

The club are 100% involved with these ticket sites. There’s too many seats/ rows of seats being bought by non city fans for them not to be.

Sorry mate. It has fuck all to do with it being a highly charged fixture. Its fucking grown men thinking they are 10 men not engaging brain.

I can tell you without any doubt he was a blue, not a scouser. Doubt me all you like but I know it is true through a contact well within the club.So he pulled his phone out? So fucking what. I hate it aswell but twatting him like that. Narrrr I hope they all get banned.
Whats the difference in the lads in 115 goading the scousers all game and vice versa?? Just cos it isnt on a phone..
Don’t get your knickers in a twist

It won’t change anything, what’s done is done

It's all on the club this and it's only going to get worse plus if your away day regular you only got to look at how the club are giving away tickets out to every fan under the sun and there was proof with at the Ipswich game of who the lads got them off club tickets for free there tickets should be 2 each if they don't take them they go to city fans

We are the worse club for it now at home games we used to laugh at united and Liverpool for it we are 100x worse now sometimes it feels like I am away fan at are home games like I've said ban the half and half scarves and anyone in another teams top coat hat or flag make it look like we are city again

This could stop within weeks if the club severed its links with the 8 official ticket touting websites and sold all match day tickets and hospitality packages through the official City ticket website. You would still get away fans who have bought citizen cards getting tickets in the home ends, but the problem wouldn’t be like it currently is.

I had it down as being shown to ask; ‘how did he get in with that?’

One game they wouldn’t let me in with my iPhone battery charger because I might throw it. Another game my mate was told she had to put her smaller than A4 bag in the bag store for a tenner even though she’s takes the same bag into every game.

Yet other people get in with a set of clippers or a big plastic hat.

I’m told to unzip my coat so I can show then I’m not wearing non-City colours, yet people come in wearing Celtic shirts or Liverpool scarves for games against the likes of Fulham, or Albania or Mexico NT shirts on CL nights, or colours of the team we’re playing against, or an Arsenal shirt or a United superstore bag against Liverpool.

If I tried to get in with a big City frisby with Haaland’s face on, on Saturday, I bet they wouldn’t let me take it in. If I tried to get into the ground with an Arsenal shirt a City+Plymouth half’n’half scarf and a United superstore bag, they wouldn’t let me in the ground.
But I have a sneaky suspicion that if I showed that I’d bought my ticket from ‘CanadaCityTours’ or some other nonsense, I’d get in dressed like this:

They might release some prisoners to make way for the City pile on ers

Or how about this….
1) Man United Youtube fella called “Angry Ginge” very famous in the Youtube world.

2) Man Utd season ticket holder who regulary sings anti-city songs

3) In the away end for the derby at the Etihad singing the usual anti-City nonsense

Here the best bit…….
He’s in the HOME END of the Etihad for City v Real Madrid openly wearing a Real Madrid shirt.

Why are the club selling any tickets/hospitality tickets to a rival supporter for such a big game.
One answer : ££££££££

And we wonder why people are pissed right fucking off
