Away tickets

In 2006 the demand from all these "young fans" when we were taking 2k to local aways wasn't there. Sure they will be older now, but the demand still wouldn't be there if it wasn't for winning things. If we hadn't had heavy external investment over the past decade then a lot of the fans demanding to go away know and basically claiming some sort of discrimination, would be fans of different clubs.

There was a time when points only mattered for one game a season, and the hard core who went then still go now, a people assume those paying £40 for Birmingham City away midweek and getting 10 loyalty points some how are "points whores" now.

Nothing has been shared on consulted with fans regarding a new system, and we are still guessing what it is. The assumption that awarding no points will even things out when more and more tickets are allocated not to points is ridiculous. People complain it may be 20 years before older fans stop going and they get a chance, however the older fans have put it longer than that attending most games, and there are only about 2% of fans prepared to do that. The rest want a ballot.
Spot on.

But the fact that they have to join a supporters club or have to get tickets second hand because they can't get one through the loyalty points system means that the loyalty points system itself isn't fit for purpose. That's the point.

As for your bottom paragraph, there'll be plenty of people born in the 21st century who are prepared to sacrifice relationships just as much as someone born in the 1950s. Will they have as much chance of getting a ticket to the big games as them? No. They won't get a sniff. Not this season. Not next. Not the season and probably decade after that. The system only favours people like that if they were born of a certain era.
It's strange you say that, because there always seem to be plenty of kids at the derby,an field etc

All seems very underhand, surely if loyalty points are to be scrapped in their present format then some kind of announcement should have been made, to just offer the points with cup schemes alongside platinum seems devious, what about all the years paying into platinum, for many that has been a complete waste of money

So what's your suggestion then?

I'm a younger fan at 21 and have been to Old Trafford 3 times I think by getting tickets from here and other ticket sites on facebook. It's possible to find tickets if you really go looking.

The problem is by doing that you are feeding the touts. By the way I don't blame you for doing it, it's wrong that people are allowed to 'claim' the tickets and then sell them on.

You know I never felt guilty about being old, just thankful to still be around and enjoying football & life. Then I come on here & read some posts, especially this thread, and feel I have to apologise for carrying on living. I’m very sorry that my support for the team I love and have loved for more years than some of you have been alive makes me such a pariah!!!!!

It works for me if I'm honest, my cousin for example almost has a deal with someone where if the guy with high points cant go, he gets offered tickets first. But as you say probably isn't the long term solution.

In a ballot everyone applies for every game and most sell on to the same willing buyers. So this could happen a lot more soon.
