Away tickets

I have just listen to the Forever Blue podcast where Kevin Parker is interviewed by Ian Cheeseman. Mr Parker is clearly a clever man, and should go into politics.

So, supporters Clubs get 20% of the allocation,’ Season card holders get an allocation of 40%, oh no sorry its 60%.’ Nicely done Kevin.

According to Kevin the Club could not get rid of tickets they used to purchase at prices bigger than the £30 of today. If they didn’t sell them the Club would have to stand the cost. Loyalty points were introduced by the club to sell these tickets with the ‘Loyalty’ points attached as an incentive, so City eventually made Wembley then you could get a ticket based on your ‘Loyalty ‘points.

As a throw away comment, Kevin gave us this 'Loyalty' point from supporters Club. The supporters Club bought an office at Maine road for £25K, and never got anything back when Maine road was sold! What has that got to do with current allocation of tickets? What did they buy or was it a gift for long term rent?

According to Kevin the number of season card holders has not changed we have had 40K FOR YEARS, but supporters club numbers have expanded exponentially, so there are now 280! He goes on to say many are abroad, and rhymes them off, then says they get very few requests for away match tickets from the foreign supporters clubs. [so, his numbers have stayed the same, but we now have 40K season card holders] ‘But supporters clubs are not getting anything they don’t deserve’

Kevin mentions several times that the Supporters club been going 70 years, as though it’s a loyalty thing. Meaning they deserve their spot more than season card holders who as individuals will not have done that.

Some more figure given out by Kevin. There are 7K supporters club members across the world via the 280 clubs, remember they get 20% of an away allocation and Kevin said the foreign clubs don’t generally ask for away fixture tickets. We have 40K season card holders who are allocated 60% of an total allocation. So, for round figures say we get an allocation of 3.5K FOR ANY AWAY GAME. Supporters club get 700 between 7K members saying all the worlds supporters club apply; which Kevin openly admits they don’t. Season card holders get an allocation of 2100 between 40K. How is that fair?

Where has the ‘Loyalty’ gone from these points that are now called ‘ticket’ points? I would imagine soon to be scrapped and made into a rolling pints system to satisfy the majority who have not been collecting the ‘Loyalty’ points over the many years. Yet the Supporters club will still get their allocation and us mere season card holders who have been following City home and away for MANY years will have to put up with joining the que for away tickets. WELL DONE SEASON CARD REP. YOU HAVE PLAYED AN ABSOLUTE BLINDER, NOT!
The supporters club has over 19000 members might help in revising your figures.

@ninjamonkey I am a member of an Official Supporters Club branch BUT I am definitely not an Official Corporate & I never get a ticket through the branch but I do get them from my loyalty points built up through the years!! I prefer to travel with my branch because I feel safer, as an older woman, with the lads from the branch.

Not sure how any of that is relevant to what I said? The general secretary decided to bring up a story of buying the office at Maine road as an answer to the question “why do they get tickets” that answer effectively says “30 years ago we paid a lot of money to the club and got nothing from it so this is our entitlement” if that’s the line he’s going with then the SC is no different to some corporate sponsors paying 25k (I’m making up the figure) for a box and getting tickets for any away game they want. only at least they don’t try and hide it and they don’t get as big of an allocation.

@Andyleg These people who keep getting tickets from a mate in a Supporters Club branch, who are they? I know our branch very rarely gets enough for our own members! There’s only one or two branches, whose names have been mentioned on here before, who seem to be the favoured few!

As to how the OSC tickets are allocated this is a question I hope to be able to ask & have answered at the AGM on Sunday! I doubt I’ll get a straight answer, as people have said Kevin Parker is like a politician, but at least I’ll go straight to the horses’ mouth so to speak rather than have a Chinese whisper/rumour. :-)

I know people who got them from Brighton from a certain overseas branch about 3k miles away, but were local.

I was responding to your statement : “Official Supporters Club? Official Corporate Club would be a more accurate name...........” so that is why it is relevant.

Mrs Eccles, don't take no answer no matter how it's dressed up. It's very likely your, and others, experience of a total lack of consideration at aways of less able supporters, comes from the SC allocation.

I went to Liverpool and Huddersfield last season on SC tickets. I am not a member of a SC nor have I ever been. Both fixtures were high demand and I couldn't source tickets from any other source. You can take that at face value or not but trust me I was at both fixtures and my points total, although reasonably high, wasn't enough to qualify me in my own right.

I'm not going to disclose who, or which branch, I got the tickets from … why should I when it remans an avenue open to me? But the point remains that tickets are being 'whored' (I really detest that terminology) at all levels not just from the independent supporter that KP & his lackey PB paint as the problem.

If we are going to persist with a system based on loyalty then 'all' supporters should qualify by right … not simply because uncle Kev and his pals feel the club owes them!!!

I travelled for years with a branch and Citycard holders got popular away tickets easily. As long as they supported branch trips then they were on the list. It was obscene.
