If he wasn't keen on playing left back that might explain why he preferred to stay...
The real reason was ,he was told he would be second choice left back behind Kolarov

So £51 million for a CB is now too low? Christ. Nothing fishy imo
That's the point though, why are they leaks. Everything Iv seen is people asking their city sources for some info, the responses being 'not overly arsed'These the leaks that have just appeared straight after he signed a new deal........
Wasn't arsed until I heard he was earmarked for left back.. Devastated now.
15 million. it was 50m euros before now 65m. Obviously Laporte is not going to accept a 100 million release clause, meaning he would spent the rest of his career at Bilbao, or would have to run his contract down to get out if he wants to play at highest level some day.No read my post. If they wanted to really nail him down they would have put the buyout around 100 (especially if he really wanted to stay). You don't sign a new contract and just add 10 million to the clause. It doesn't make sense.
City were never going to come out and say they're gutted that the deal has fallen through, but the stuff they've briefed the press is a bit disingenuous to say the least. They'd have been better off not commenting at all.
Bonnuci it is thenAgreed.
Positive: it didn't drag on all Summer
Negative: adds another 20M to the Stones price tag
