Aymeric Laporte

Thank god. Just wonder if we will be hesitant around him. If so would probably make more sense for the 6th cb to be THB and still sell Laporte.
Not sure mate to be honest but if a club Laporte wants to join comes in for him and meets our value of him then think he'll go, think Harwood-Bellis will go out on loan again though

A, he was never 5th choice, he won't be 6th either. That would mean we play with only one CB, which we don't. Most of the season we have played with 3. Which makes him at worst 2nd choice.
You are playing semantic games here. He was the last choice Central defender last season when there were 5. All the other 4 were ahead of him. He'll likely be the last choice CD now that they've added a 75 million pound defender to the mix.

B, nobody 'knows' we are trying to move Laporte, there is nothing to suggest we are doing that. He may well want to leave, however, and it makes sense. But can't take it for granted the club want him out.
Sure. Nobody knows. But we are clearly NOT trying to keep him. Guardiola specifically waxes lyrical about keeping Bernado and Walker. You don't hear similar about Laporte.

6 centre backs is obviously a lot but there's still a chance that Walker and Cancelo both leave and if we don't replace either of them then we'll be starting with 4 CBs like we did against Bayern and Inter. We can't start the same 4 in every game and we could play up to 67 games this season if we go all the way in every competition.

It's also worth noting that Stones and Ake have a history of injury problems, Akanji may find it harder in his second season and Gvardiol will need time to adapt. Bearing all that in mind, I think if Laporte does end up staying he would still get plenty of game time. If Walker stays then I agree we'll probably let him go.

That could be because he is regularly asked about Bernardo due to years of speculation about him wanting to leave and more recently Walker. I can't recall Pep ever being asked about Laporte's future.

I fear (for him) that he’ll stay because nobody will pay what we want. I’m presuming that’s why he’s not gone yet anyway.

I can understand the Bernie conundrum from the club because he’s a starter and a fantastic player - so demands a high fee.

But Laporte is out of favour and it’s probably a right time all round to part ways. Surely it’s a high fee stopping him from going because he’s fantastic, I can’t see why clubs wouldn’t be clamouring over him.
Can see him going on loan, perhaps back to La Liga.

£30m? Jesus Christ, gets you fuck all nowadays and yet apparently that’s what we want for Laporte.

Claytop
seems low but injury record? And he’s apparently on £6m a year and no doubt if we sell we will have to compensate for lost loyalty bonus.
I would rather we cashed in if it allows us to spend a bit bigger on a winger.
