Baconface given £60M transfer kitty?

Re: Sir Alex Ferguson given 60M transfer kitty?

£60m isn't going to replace Scholes, Giggs and **** so how exactly is that going to improve their team. Even more than Chelsea they rely on the old guard.

Even if they had that money (which they don't) they will be out of the title running by January and January signings are rarely a success in the season that they are bought anyway.

They will be 4th when when the window opens and they will finish 5th.
They have repeatedly stated that they have over £100 Million cash on deposit. They may conclude that it makes more sense to invest in the playing squad in January than to lose out on a top 4 place in the Summer which would be catatstrophic, but finding such players is very difficult

I'm probably going to get a lot of abuse now, but I honestly get the impression that Manure are going to be the next club to be taken over. Before you all laugh, something's gone on behind the scenes and I honestly don't think Ferguson has made the whole thing up. It's very bizarre. Rooney to change his mind like that speaks volumes really, and has just left me wondering whether they've got a potential buyer! Eek! x

The Glazers can only sell, due to their other commitments, if they get >£1.5B this is way in excess of the true value, on top of that the team probably needs £100M+ so only a really mega rich buyer with a lot of spare cash can even contemplate. There is also the issue of Slur Alex Fergiscum and how much longer he has left. So all in all i doubt your theory

Back to Rooney, they have obviously made him promises to invest in the squad. I reckon they can spend about £20M a year, and there will be no bond costs to finance next year. So with the sale of a few players here and there they will be a able to give saf some money to spend. Problem they have as I said earlier they need about £100M to refresh a squad that has been ageing for awhile, also doubt they will have the funds to pay the salaries that the players then need will demandSo not looking good IMHO to keep the promises.

It would be very foolish to write them off just yet. Even if their better players are coming to the end of their careers they know how to win. Us and Spurs may have better squads but we don't yet have what they have. They have an average player like O'Shea who has won several Championships over here. They have issues when Scholes and Giggs call it a day but I will say with some confidence that 4 teams will not finish above the scum.

..and Ferguson has constantly stated that "there's no value in the market". It doesn't mean it's true though.

-- Sat Oct 23, 2010 10:38 am --

Chelsea, us, Arsenal and Spurs all have better squads and better first elevens, in my humble opinion of course.

Their habit of winning and the genius (retch) of Ferguson will get them a higher finish than they should get. Which is why I will stick with 5th.

Re: Sir Alex Ferguson given 60M transfer kitty?

Dzeko would cost more than 30 mil, considering we couldn't get him for less than his buyout, which was 35 mil-ish.

If they signed him, it could be curtains for Berbatov.

Sneijder is on the very verge of signing a new 5-year contract with Inter, btw.

Re: Sir Alex Ferguson given 60M transfer kitty?

Toilet role paper, but even so theres so many things wrong with that article, first Shrek's on 200k a week now apparently, secondly the Rags don't have 60m and thirdly, even if they did they wouldn't get Dzeko because he's joining Juve, simple as.

Re: Sir Alex Ferguson given 60M transfer kitty?

The figure doing the rounds is he's doubled his wages which makes it £180,000 a week & gill said the kitty was £165 million for new players, they seem to be a tad confused on the moey thung no wonder they ate £750 million in debt.

I said as much to a Rag, the other week. I said I reckoned that there would have to someone willing to spend just shy of £2 Bil in order for the club to right itself OR wait for the inevitable Dippers situation to happen to pick them up on the cheap. Realisation stunned him into silence!

I predict his sale, but not for money, mainly, but for a couple of players plus cash. I'm going for Benzema and Diarra plus cash.

As an outside bet, fringe players will be sold, Anderson, Park and, perhaps, even Berbaflop to boost the coffers to land, at least, Benzema who needs a career re-think, to partner Shrek.

WAYNE Rooney’s stunning decision to stay at Old Trafford pocketed him a pay hike of £50,000 a week – and earned Sir Alex Ferguson a £60m transfer kitty.

Shocked Manchester United fans were celebrating last night after Rooney’s dramatic U-turn saw him pen a new five-year deal to stay at the club.

Rooney has signed a contract worth £140,000 a week, making him the highest-paid star in the club’s history.

The staggering deal will see the England hitman trouser a whopping £33.6m plus bonuses and add-ons until 2015.

But Starsport understands that the clinching factor in Rooney deciding to pledge his future to Old Trafford was a promise from the Glazers that Fergie would be given the funds he wanted to make at least two big-name signings before next season.

Top of Fergie’s list are Inter Milan’s Dutch ace Wesley Sneijder and Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko.

United announced the news at lunchtime after Rooney had apologised to his team-mates and Fergie.

Rooney, who is expected to return from his ankle injury at Manchester City on November 10, said: “I am signing a new deal in the absolute belief that the management, coaching staff, board and owners are totally committed to making sure United maintains its proud winning history.

“That is why I joined the club in the first place."

Thoughts?

they wont get those two for 60 and if they do they'll still just make 4th.
