They were never going to go into freefall as a fair few City fans thought.
They may not win the league for the next few seasons but imo they'll be a top 3 or 4 side
I would have agreed with you 12 months ago, but not now. Chelski are strong, we are getting stronger, gooners are strong, spuds are solid and certainly we will see in 2 weeks if they can match the rags, so I feel there are 5 teams capable of getting into the top 4 I believe chelski, gooners and us are in there and 1 more from spurs and the rags. If this season ends up with a top 4 that doesn't include the rags, then where do they go? It will be £30 million in revenue lost, we musn't concern ourselfs with anything other than winning each game as it comes along, but it must have crossed peoples minds that the spuds might now have a better squad than the rags and that we have a better squad then gooners, rags and the spuds. Freefall could happen by simply drifting out of the top 4 then as liverpool have shown, its bloody hard to get back in with out major player investment, which is expensive without 4 bidding monsters to compete against, with 4 bidding monsters to compete against it becomes hugely expensive, look at us, we have had to play catch, so I would say that firstly I believe Rooney will go in the summer (and the money will go towards the debt), but say he doesn't, they would be looking at needing about £150 at to rebuild the team, the spuds will qualify for the next stage this year, so if they finish with us in the top 4 again, they will have champions league football, the london factor and about £50-60 million to top up there squad. It is possible that they won't finish in the top 4 If the rags finish out of the top 4 there not coming back any time soon and that will bring about the biggest fall from grace since, well since the bin dippers!
