Ballon d'Or 2023 | Haaland finishes 2nd

Now it's clear, England and Germany both voted for Messi to win it.
Also Argentina voted for Messi as number one, while not voting Haaland even in the top 5.

Just rediculus
Scotland Wales Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland also all voted for Messi. Who makes the decision in England to vote for Messi, anyone know?

One prominent joutnalist from each countey. Henry Winter from England. He wrote a whole article on why he coted messi. Pretty much last hurrah and world cup romance.

Yes, Henry Winter! Amazing that he voted for Owen though in 2001 giving the reason he won League cup, fa cup, super cup and the Community shied.
Yes what an absolute bitter wakner that disingenuous unsavoury weasel is.

You are the only one on this thread being emotionally dishonest.
Argentina lost a match and then won the final on penalties.
No one is disagreeing that Messi is a great player, maybe the best of all time, but not this season.
He didn't win that World Cup on his own.
Nobody wins anything on their own. Messi was, by far, Argentina's best player though, and there's no chance they would have won it all without him.

Messi in 2022 was worse than DAM in 1994.

It was called the European player of the year back in DAM's main era, and he wouldn't have pissed on it.
Hahaha what? Maradona was kicked away in '94 for being a cheating junkie.

And for that, he was given the appropriate award, the World Cup Player of the Tournament. Doesn't mean he should get the Ballon D'or too, and be rewared twice for one good tournament.

Anyway, it was always inevitable, and I said it as far back as this thread goes. It is not right, but it is what it is, a goodbye award to a player that has retired from football with the one trophy he was missing.
Here are Messi's and Haaland's numbers for the 22/23 season:

Messi has literally better numbers while winning the same but with the bigger trophy. It would have been fair for either guy to win. I can't understand why would anyone scream "robbery" on this scenario.
