I really don't get this at all. Why has the club not appealed fully ? Do they not see this as an important game on Wednesday ? Do they think we can do without him or has he picked up a knock ? The Derby is obviously more important to me than it is the some at the club

Maybe true, but maybe it's time some fans started looking past the Derby as being the be all and end all of our season. Maybe we're not interested in finishing in a disappointing league position this year but being able to say "well hey, atleast we took some points off United."

We want to finish ABOVE United this season and that's probably more likely if we have our strongest side available for as many games as possible. Risking losing him for 4 matches, purely for the sake of getting one over on United would be an extremely unambitious move on our part.

The Derby will always be a special fixture and we all want to get one over on our neighbours but if we want to challenge we shouldn't be channelling all of our resources into this match at the risk of weakening our squad for an excessively prolonged period of time. For me, i'm not looking at bragging rights being won and lost in the derbies this season, i'm looking at them being won by us sitting above them in the table come May.

Fuckin hell mate you aint going to last long on here eight posts and you come out with a post like that

I think the line of thought is........If he accepts the card 3 match ban If he accepts the second yellow 1 kmatch ban If he appeals the whole situation 3 match ban with a possible 4th for punishment.

So at the moment, the best choice would be 1 game.

Agree and excellent post, but like they say Less is More and Empty spaces make more noise or something like that!

....and this will be increased to a 4 match ban for a frivolous appeal no doubt.

I don't agree it's a frivolous appeal.

Unlike camel face's last season, there are genuine doubts whether he should have been sent off.

I don't think it's frivolous.....but the no-marks on the Appeals panel will.

Agree with geoff on this - we should be only looking at the Derby as game - love the bragging rights but it would so much sweeter if won the whole thing. One whole year when they have to call us champs.

Re: Balo's out for wednesday

You can't downgrade a card once its issued, you can only have it completely recinded. We can't claim the red should have been a yellow, we have to prove it wasn't worthy of any card at all. Now it's clear to see a yellow was probably justifiable so we'd never win an outright appeal against the card, by agreeing to the red and a 1 match ban we CAN appeal the length or the sentence, it's a slight manipulation of the rules but it does give the FA a chance to reduce the sentence without reducing the card. Having said that I'd be surprised if this worked.

"Manchester City can confirm that we have today submitted an appeal following the dismissal of Mario Balotelli for violent conduct during Sunday's 2-0 victory at West Bromwich Albion.

The claim will be heard by an FA independent regulatory commission tomorrow, Tuesday November 9."

so he's available for Wednesday if successful

No he won't.

Re: Balo's out for wednesday

An appeal is necessary to ward off further dubious calls such as the red card given to Mario.

If we don't appeal in future referees will willy nilly card our players without giving the benefit of doubt knowing that we will bend over accepting it..

Why do you think referees are reluctant to card the scums unless they are 'absolutely sure its necessary'? They are afraid of the consequences if they are wrong! Likewise the scums are rewarded by dubious calls against their lesser opponents.

Its a psychological battle won by Fergie & the scums. Thats why oftentimes they win with drama in the dying seconds knowing that they are given the 'benefit of doubt' (Vidic's etc.) & the opponents are scared shitless of referees dubious calls on the field.

APPEAL APPEAL. APPEAL.

BTW Ade has unfinished Derby business due to his suspension last season.

Re: Balo's out for wednesday

i have just watched the red card on the highlights on the OS and tbh the rags r very lucky if he not playing because IT WAS NOT A RED CARD 100% malumbo had hold of balotellis leg and balo was getting him off him if he cant play against rags then the FA needs sorting out good and propa !!
