subotic would cost alot but hes 6.4 and only 21 so an investment. i would play boateng next to him and micah on the right

So from that tolm you mean as far as you know we are not targeting a new CB? if so big mistake imo.

I have not been aware of us signing another centre back, if you take Boateng's versatility out of the equation.

I knew nothing about Luiz and I still don't.

It should be the main focus before the window shuts. Hopefully we don't have to trial those shortcomings in our opening few games, before the penny drops.

tolmie,
What the score then with this one then mate, i do look out for your posts and dont judge anyone for posting but wouldnt mind a straight forward up date on the lad

tolmie. do you know if we are in for a central defender ?

i really think we should move heaven and eath to sign neven subotic at dortmund

Well you now have a great Handel of things with regards Balotelli.

PLEASE IGNORE THE SHIT.

As for a central defender, we desperately need two. Kompany is too slow and passive. Kolo and Lescott are just garbage full stop.

It will cost us big time, our delusion.
If that wow signing is Maicon we could push Boateng inside and then we would need only one ;-)

The CB position worries me, we spend all this money improving the squad yet one of the most glaring deficiences is the CB position... imo it will come back to haunt us.

-- Thu Aug 05, 2010 10:02 am --

The problem is, if we go down that road we'll have pretty much a new 11 & a week to sort it out. That's not a recipe for success however good they are.

I agree with that nev, but for me we need a quality CB mate.

luiz is good but the benefit of signing subotic would be that he is already familiar with kolorov as the play together for the national side.
i hope we realise we have a big problem at the back.

anyway, didnt someone post that mancini didnt rate lescott and wanted rid ?

Italian sports news broadcaster Sky Sport Italia claim that Manchester City are only 48 hours away from officially confirming the acquisition of Inter Milan’s Mario Balotelli.

The Italian under-21 international has been heavily linked with a reunion with former Inter boss Roberto Mancini with reports now claiming that a five year contract worth £2.8 million each season being negotiated.

The combustible, mercurial hitman is recognised as one of the most exciting prospects in Serie A. While Inter are thought to be keen on holding onto their strike starlet it has been accepted by the club’s hierarchy that should a suitable big money offer be forthcoming from Manchester City then a deal could be agreed.

Balotelli missed the nerrazurri’s pre-season friendly against Chelsea last week and was also absent from Tuesday’s match against Panathinaikos. It is believed that the arrival of City’s latest big money star could herald a further cull of City’s current first team squad. Roque Santa Cruz, Emmanuel Adebayor and Craig Bellamy have all been tipped to quit Eastlands with several continental suitors eyeing deals.

Think that was on the Yawning Donkey thread. The OP pulled it I think because he stated we were about to sign Torres.
