Balotelli.

Roberto Mancini is poised to sign Inter Milan wonder kid Mario Balotelli for Manchester City within days.

But the Eastlands boss is adamant that the Blues will not pay over the odds for the 19-year-old striker.

Negotiations between City and Inter have reached a crucial stage, but no transfer fee had been agreed on Sunday night.

Blues’ officials feel that a £30m price tag is too high for the youngster, who made his debut for Inter when Mancini was in charge.

The City boss said: “Balotelli is one of the four or five strikers that interest us. I was the first to believe in him and I’m convinced about what he can give.

“Mario has two qualities that suit us – his talent and his age, because I want people able to build a dynasty at Manchester City.

“I think that in a couple of days certain situations will be clearer, but I can’t guarantee in what way.”

Mancini is a keen admirer of Balotelli and wants him on board at Eastlands – but not at any price.

The Italian said: “There is the money to buy anyone but not to pay them a lot as some people are saying.

“That’s in general terms. If someone ups the price of a player by 40 or 50 per cent convinced that City will take them anyway, they’ve calculated wrong.”

Reports in Italy stated that Balotelli’s friends held a farewell party at Milan’s Van Gogh cafe on Saturday evening to mark his impending departure from the San Siro.

Mancini wants to boost his strike force and has made no secret of his interest in Liverpool's Fernando Torres, Wolfsburg's Edin Dzeko and Barca's Zlatan Ibrahimovic. He ruled out a move for Diego Forlan though.

"Those that I am interested are those that the papers are highlighting - apart from Forlan," he said.

Still think he might end up coming too.

When I saw the word "tomorrow" I quickly looked to see when this was posted, praying it was yesterday, but no, it was today, meaning he meant tomorrow, even though he's only guessing, and I'm 41 years old and should not behave like this.

Feckin transfer window - Pah!!

On the subject of Balotelli, I know some people are concerned with him joining us, hoping he won't be another flop but he's young, talented and quick (all the right attributes) and respects Mancini.

I don't see it as a gamble as I'm sure he'll do well in the PL.

The press are giving a bit of stick out too but blimey, nothing could be worse than the Santa-Cruz deal!!!!

i totally agree with this. he has all of the physical attributes needed to cut it in the premiership.

a bit of guidance from mancini and he can be world class (this also applies to micah richards)

plenty of potential - great signing

Micah Richards isn't a footballer though. It's a sad situation when we believe that someone like Micah Richards can be world class purely based on physical attributes and nothing else, as if being a footballer isn't important anymore, just being an athlete is enough.

Regarding Balotelli, I assume he will play out wide in a 4-3-3.

balotelli can play in every attacking role but first of all he is a centre forward
