Micah Richards isn't a footballer though. It's a sad situation when we believe that someone like Micah Richards can be world class purely based on physical attributes and nothing else, as if being a footballer isn't important anymore, just being an athlete is enough.

Regarding Balotelli, I assume he will play out wide in a 4-3-3.

balotelli can play in every attacking role but first of all he is a centre forward

I am still convinced that he will be used as a wide forward and not in the middle. Only on certain occasions will we see him play a centre forward role IMO.

In a 4-3-3, I think our squad with Balotelli, Adebayor, Bellamy and Tevez, and Adam Johnson and SWP, we have enough options, with players with different attributes and we are well covered. Our depth in the middle of the park is the only thing that is somewhat worrying now, if Ireland leaves and isn't replaced.

And you forgot Silva!

I thought about him, but I consider him as our man in the middle right behind the striker, although he can occasionally play in the 2 wide roles up front, I think we should consider him our man in the middle where he excels. I hope we buy one more player capable of playing the role of both CM or AM, I think it is crucial for our depth if Ireland leaves. Michael Johnson would have been perfect if he can be injury free, but I presume we'll loan him out, as it's somewhat risky to count on him like we did the previous season with him and Ireland. Vieira and Zabaleta can probably be our 6th man option in our midfield 3.

So our squad depth would be the best in the Premiership:

Formation 4-3-3:

Goalies: Hart, Given

Defense: Boateng, Zab, Kompany, Lescott, Toure, Kolarov, Bridge and probably Richards or Boyata.

Midfield: Barry, DJ, Toure, Silva, Vieira, Ireland/replacement for Ireland

Forwards: Bellamy, Tevez, Ade, SWP, Balotelli, A.Johnson

That's 2 players for every position with lots of different qualites and options for Mancini which can be used during different stages of different games. Many of our players are also versatile which is always good.

--------MILNER-----------------------------BARRY-------

--------------------------SILVA--------------------------

-------------------TEVEZ-------ADEBAYOR--------------

That will be our team, Except i am unsure over the Goalkeeper and our Defense.
Balotelli will be played as a CF, rotated with Ade, and Silva is not a winger!!!

I'd be surprised if Barry was a regular.
Why? Left footed DM brings good balance to the team, he was average last season but he played nearly every game and was visably tired.

I think that will be the formation but i dont see barry starting , i see de jong as the holding player and yaya in barrys position .

No Zab, Boateng at RB and Kompany next to Lescott would be better, let's not forget the team captain either, I'm pretty sure he'll get a few games?

Had this discussion with my brother and we agreed that A.Johnson (as much as i love him and think he will be our future) can not play as part of a diamond, he would be able to play where silva does, but he is more of a 4-3-3 winger, can't see him holing his own in a diamond.<br /><br />-- Tue Jul 27, 2010 10:41 am --<br /><br />

I'm scared we will play Boetang at right back...

What why, thats why we bought him?

Hes 19 so not going straight in as a first team starter IMO.

This deal is insanely risky but Mancini knows him very well and his business thus far has been excellent (except viera and hes there more as a cheerleader in the dressing room)

So I will give him the benefit of the doubt on this one.

Has to be better than RSC for £17 million and Lescott for £24 million.....

Why do everyone dismiss the 4-3-3 that pretty much all big teams play these days?
United 4-5-1
Madrid 4-3-1-2
Inter 4-5-1
Aresnal 4-4-2
Tottenham 4-4-2
...let's just cut the bull only Barca and A.C.Milan are big teams who use 4-3-3, it is a week formation IMO.
EDIT* and the players we have don't suit a 4-3-3, who would be upfront?
TEVEZ----------------ADE----------------SILVA?
tevez and silva are not WINGERS!!!!!

I just don't agree with buying CB's to play at right back and all that. He is a center back so he should play there, versattility is a good thing but i disagree with this one.

United 4-5-1 (also played as 4-3-3 when attacking)
Madrid 4-3-1-2 (also played as 4-3-3 when attacking
Inter 4-5-1 (also played as 4-3-3 when attacking)
Aresnal 4-4-2 (also play 4-3-3 with walcott and arshavin on the wings RVP upfront on his own)
Tottenham 4-4-2 ( the only 4-4-2 team here)

I understand where your coming from but he is just as good on the right hand side as in the centre and is far better than zab and micha even if it is his second position. He is still young so mancini can decide where he wants him to play and make him stronger in that position.

Oh right i get it, so when every team is attacking they play a 4-3-3? Well in that case if City's full backs are going forward with the ball does that mean we are playing a 2-4-4? no... it doesn't
and madrid do not play 4-3-3 full stop, ronaldo plays behind Higuin and Kaka is like Silva (plays in hole), they do not play
