Same reason reporters don't i would assume.
That and if he is a personal friend and he asked him not to name him then it would be a betrayal of trust and his mate would be rightly miffed at that.

And he may well be right, but I get the feeling most if not all the players don't know what's going on behind the scene, I eat in the same restaurant as Bobby now and again.
