Ban the Grand National?

Of course it should be banned

Something that was deemed entertainment 200 years ago isn't relevant now - especially the amount of deaths involved
what about all the cows pigs chickens etc we all eat at least a race horse has a great life maybe we should just horses for pulling barges and dragging coal up from the mines

Always good to have an expert on hand to tell us exactly what is and isn't relevant nowadays.
I assume you would also ban show jumping, harness racing, dressage, three day eventing, and gymkhana's as well?
Why stop there?
We no longer need rag and bone men,so should we not use horses for any kind of work either?
Or use them as horse-drawn carriages for weddings and funerals?
Because they die doing all of these things too.
In fact,to be on the safe side, maybe we should not even let them run around a field in case they fall over.
Let's just keep them in a padded stall where they can't move, so that there is no risk of injury whatsoever.

i dont think horse racing should be banned but i think the fences should be made smaller at the national. the high profile of the event coupled with horse deaths does the sport no favours.

this is not the answer if the fences are smaller the horses go faster so there would be more deaths that is why there is also deaths in big hurdle races

Hardly relevant

And where did I say horses shouldn't be ridden? The way horses are pushed beyond their capabilities to make something 'attractive' to a baying audience is perfectly acceptable to you it seems

Last years winner couldn't even attend the winners enclosure due to exhaustion

Don't twist the opinion of the many on here to fit in win your usual rants.

they should make the owners jump them jumps and if they hurt themselves in the process then id happily shoot them in the face.

You are a complete fucking idiot,as are most of the ignorant halfwits on this thread who wouldn't know one end of a horse from the other, yet get up on their hind legs full of self-righteous piss and wind every Grand National.
I assume most of these 'ban racing' imbeciles also eat meat, often produced in horrendous conditions, where animals suffer.
If so,then shut the fuck up about a sport you clearly know nothing about, other than one race a year, and campaign against factory farming instead, you hypocritical numpties.

Bit angry... I take it you didn't back any winners yesterday?

the gold cup winner bust its leg after dumping jockey at a fence before so was jumping on its own will like it would if it was a wild horse
