Banning smoking in beer gardens

I just about get banning smoking inside pubs as it did stink. But who on earth goes to the pub and believes it will be beneficial for their health? Its not a gym fgs. Its pushing it a bit for anyone to choose, of their own free will, to travel to an establishment that has historically been known to exist purely to provide a service of putting a drug into your system, to then complain 'oh my god, if i stand outside this place it affects my health i must therefore complain'.
The argument you have at that stage is effectively that pubs should only exist for the exact reasons 'you' want them to and not for what they have historically been known to offer. Im an ex smoker but i wouldnt dream of whinging that somebody standing outside having a cigarette should be banned. Smoking currently isnt illegal, until then people should be able to do it as they wish outdoors otherwise we are seriously interfering with their free will. The same free will you (the hypothetical complainer) has when you choose whether to go to the pub or not.

They will make laws to ban booze soon and turn all beer gardens into gyms, you'll be able to buy an unsweetened orange juice from the small bar after you have done a 100 push-ups.

Meanwhile the ciggie industry will be booming and the government will still be chasing the puffing bills for non payment of revenue.

Probably as it’s a sporting environment so promoting a healthy lifestyle. Not many take any notice and quite likely, given your reply, lots of folk don’t know!!
Nothing to do with that. Smoking is prohibited on any council owned property / land. The whole of the stadium and surrounding land has been a non smoking environment since day one. Obviously very unforceable but it is banned.

Exactly!

I once kissed a girl who must have had a cig without me seeing it and it was disgusting!

I even told me wife to be that if ever wanted to be a smoker, it would be over!! It gave her the chance to become one if she didn’t want to stay married to me!! ;-) Thankfully, she’s asleep next to me after 40 years together after nary a cig between the two of us.

Here is a picture of the nicotine stain from an old aircraft, back when you could smoke. This is the Outflow Valve. That valve is how pressurization is maintained as conditioned air is pumped into the cabin. It’s like the slow leak in a balloon when you are blowing it up.

THAT sticky shit goes everywhere from smokers, but concentrating it through an outflow valve highlights just how nasty smoking is!

Thanks, now I want to throw up

People were having more children when everyone smoked it didn't put them off, the sanitised vaping latte drinking modern version of people can't muster a decent sperm count or for a relationship past tinder and swiping right.

( I have to agree it does stink though) it must be the garlic effect, if you had garlic you can't smell it on other people.

Florida has a rule that as long as the pub doesn't cook / serve food on the premises, then smoking is permitted.
My local dive bar right on the Alafia River is one such place.
I don't mind it as it usually has both main amd side door (leading to the covered outdoor area) open and there are four or five ceiling fans on all the time.
There is a trailer attached to the site where food is cooked and served and if you so wish you can eat it inside the pub, most eat it outside.
It took me a while to get used to being inside but I don't mind it when there's just a few lighting up and if the gorgeous Sarah is behind the bar. When the air gets a little heavy then I'm outside

I’m guessing the weather is a bit better in Florida than over here.
Couldn’t see that working in Dublin.

Have they still got people coughing and pointing at you if you spark up in the designated area though? Sounds like a good rule to be fair.

Don't you get the feeling that even if there was an island for smokers you'd get a bunch of people pointing at the island and coughing?

The whole bar is a designated smoking area - inside and out!
