Barca v City Post Match Thread

After the next round of matches we may well be in third place.

This will mean that we will have to beat Celtic at home and somehow conjure up at least a draw in Germany.

With our defending this is going to be difficult, I for one am not confident.
Somehow conjure up a draw against a team we beat 4-0?

Yeah I'm shitting it :-/

Pep's team plan was Perfect! Up until Bravo's incident I thought we were the better team and we were going to get back into the game and win it!!

Even Bein Sports all thought City will win it and Barca were outplayed. Once Bravo got the Red Card, we just lost total confidence and shape. The scoreline does not reflect what actually happened in the game, If Bravo did not make his mistake, I think we could have drawn or even won!

The players need to work on believing they can win big games or challenge big teams. It will come with time. I think we will end the season on a high as we gel even better with Pep's tactics. This is the first time I see City having many opportunities to score against Barca!!!

Having left it a few hours to think it over I actually thought we played ok, typical city fernadinho slipping and you cant blame the other defenders for messi reaching the ball before them for the first goal. Stones scores that header before half time all square and on the balance of play that would have been fair. Put any two of their front three in our team tonight and we win the game. Bravo was silly but no point moaning about him he does what pep wants thats all that matters. We even created a couple of chances with our ten against their eleven.I was wary of Aguero not starting but the best team doesnt have to have the best players in.Altogether not bad after three months of a new manager who is using players we know will go. Not many teams will go there and match them in possession and passing stats and shots like we did in the first half, Slowly slowly catchy monkey as they say..

Absolutely right, 4-0 is harsh, the game could have been so different, but for a rub of the green

Then you don't "totally" agree with me.

There are some posters who have a ridiculously high idea of where we are currently, others who have a ridiculously high expectation of where we should be 4 months into the new manager's tenure and yet others who have ridiculously pessimistic view of where we will be in due course. I'm looking at you Yaya.

Just support man and let it play out.

I have no choice but to let it play out and will always support the team. However that does not preclude my showing discourse based upon the evidence presented. But fair point, I am Mr. Pessimism personified :).

We have too may many happy clappers on here, who can`t understand that our Manager fucked up from the word go.Forget individual mistakes,he should have gone with the strongest team available and KDB is NOT a replacement for Sergio !!!
A bad day at the office ? Maybe ! Or maybe our manager brought this on by his own ego that Sergio needs to do more work outside of the box.Whatever it was it badly misfired on the night.
Blame the stupidity of a goalkeeping error, but at the end of the day,Pep dropped a bollock and is not the Messiah but a very naughty ...

I have to agree. I can not work out the logic - players fault when we lose, managers genius when we win.

Don't get me wrong - I still have faith in Pep, but he got it way wrong last night and against Spurs. Also his targeting of Aguero is worrying.

Barca were there for the taking up untill the red card we created many chances gainst one of the best teams in the world we were unlucky with there first goal .but wtf wad Bravo thinking then it all went tits up

One other thing....I really can't take to our players beaming and grinning like star struck school girls who have just met their heroes....as they did at the end of the game last night. Weak mentality.

We were brilliant till the sending off crap after and every Barcelona goal was our own fault.

Being brilliant includes being able to cope in adversity, not keep gifting possession away and more importantly defend which we can't. In fact we are shit at it. We played well for 60 minutes but we didn't take our chances once again which has now cost us in the last 2 games and made schoolboy errors which we have done in 3 of the last 4. How hard do opposition teams have to work to score a goal against us? Almost every goal we concede is poor, there have been no world class moves or strikes against us this season.

We didn't replace positions that were crying out to be sorted once again and are now left with having to play 3 CB's in some games because the full backs are so crap. None of our full backs are comfortable with what is expected of them and need replacing asap as soon as the window opens. We should have players lined up for Jan 1st for these positions whatever the cost because it is going to hold us back if we don't get it sorted.

We are playing some nice stuff this season and the tactics are fine. I just don't think we have the players to carry out the instructions properly.

We have to get the defence sorted out and quickly because December is a brutal month for us fixtures wise and we have to firing in every department by then.

Hopefully the home game against Barca will be one to make amends. Play as well as we did first half and cut out these sloppy errors.

If it was 0-0 and bravo got sent off we could of changed tactics and played for a point but we had nothing to protect so in return we got thumped. That sending off changed everything.
