Barca v City Post Match Thread

OMG I've read some crap on here and twitter this morning.
A few things you can't do in top flight football is
1. U can't make silly mistakes.
2. U can't go down to 10 men.
3. U can't afford to miss chances.

And in typical city fashion we do all 3!.

I know emotions were running high last night and I was just as frustated as most of you but come on, were we really that bad? For the most part we were very competitive and created some great chances. We all know KDB isn't a false 9 but it was working for the team for the most part although it did nullify his threat because he wasn't getting enough of the ball. What u can't legislate for is individual errors and bravo dropped a huge bollock which basically changed the game. If the stones header and gone in and bravo wasn't sent off I honestly think we would have won that game.
No way in the world was that a 4 goal hiding.

And to the knobs on twitter calling for pep to go. Fuck me. I give up. Embarrassing and sums up modern plastic football fans.

Well we got what we expected, a defeat.
A heavy defeat. Messi weird beard got a hat -trick.
Yes we lost but it was more down to carelessness than any sense of them being superior to us.
The first goal, which was mostly down to Fernandinho's slip, threw us for a while, but we were well on top towards the end of the first half. Barca, having taken the lead by chance, weren't able to really dominate.
Why did Fernandinho (and others ) slip at a crucial time? Do they wear studs on their boots these days or are they glorified trainers?
If Gundogan had scored , after a marvellous piece of skill, that would have been a goal shown more than Ricky Villa's , the equal to Kinky's goal v Southampton perhaps!
Stones missed a sitter - and Raheem had a penalty call ignored ( rightly turned down, but refs have given more dubious ones against us in the past! .)
We could have been leading at the break, and not undeservedly.
The less said about Bravo's brain fart the better!
I was also apalled to see the diving and time -wasting gamesmanship by a team so praised.
Yes we lost, but we weren't outplayed and they were at least as worried about us as we were of them.
Roll on the return game and let's do them!

Can't be arsed listening to some people - 4-0 was completely unfair, I thought we did more than enough to get a point. If you look at the actual statistics before they started to run riot you would say a draw or even a win for us was more fair. I think we looked fine and had decent control over the ball but once again we were totally incapable of finishing chances. Their keeper made a ton of saves and apart from the one Bravo flipped over the bar, they had none. I watch La Liga a lot and I have seen Barcelona a lot, that was the poorest performance I have seen of them for some time and it was because of the way WE played, not them.

If you are going to make mistakes though and lose concentration defensively we need to take any chances we have and once again this is the 4th game in a row we have shortchanged ourselves in key moments. You can't blame them directly but Gundogan should of scored, Stones missed an open net and we had a handful of half chances that had Messi been on the ball he would of converted. Messi did absolutely bugger all, he was terrible on the ball yet he scored 3!?!? Even Suarez was an absolute bag of shite, Neymar just dived all over the place, it was a really terrible Barcelona performance shown up by the fact that even Iniesta had virtually no influence on the game.

I think the key is, they replaced their entire defence almost in the match and had a bunch of unknown schoolkids who we should of punished with the chances we did create. I was worried about playing these before the game but I am not worried about playing them at home now because I think if we can sort out ourselves in front of goal we will score at least a few. I can name a handful of chances we should of buried yet I can't name a single chance Barcelona had apart from the ones we gifted to them. It is impossible actually to blame anyone because we defended mostly okay, controlled the game in midfield and created chances going forward.

Ok Bravo made a critical mistake but that is just the way we play, he is going to make mistakes and that is just the way it is. The only person we can blame for that mistake is not Bravo because I think he had a good game otherwise but it is Pep for telling him to play the way he is.

I don't think playing Sergio would of mattered either because like it or not he is not on form, he doesn't have any effect without the ball and that was key against these. Recently he has barely participated in the games he has played in and I think Pep was right to at least both give him a rest and something to think about, no-one should be bulletproof in this team.

All in all I am disappointed, 1-0 was probably a fair result if we had to lose but we should of at the very least come out of this with a point. If you look at it, Messi had a poor game, Neymar had an ok game, Suarez had a crap game. So on a below average night for them they score 4 and for our front 3 who had relatively better games they scored none, that is the difference.

Totally correct. Some complete Muppets on here. Yes a fuck up but will improve.

Guardiola made a massive call in getting rid of Hart, but involving Bravo in the build ups to the extent that we are doing is too risky. It's incredibly stupid to risk the last man and a sending off by playing on the edge all the time. We deserved to concede that goal and lose that game for taking unnecessary risks. We need winning football, not a coach who wants to prove a point and show the world what a footballing genius he is.

And for the 2nd game running we had nothing in the box. De Bruyne and Sterling really were very very good and terrified barcelona, and yet we created nothing from some very good positions. Silva, Gundogan are they good enough. Silva may weave some pretty patterns, but when it comes to the penalty area his game is weak, and he hasn't improved. Aguero is never fit. Your 28. What are you doing? Likewise Kompany.

Need to improve. This is when it happens. You measure yourself against the best, and then take a look and respond.

Not interested in winning the 'we played well but lost 4-0 cup'. If you make silly mistakes and gift goals to the opposition, go down to 10 men due to an inane piece of play, and miss your chances when you create them, you lose.
