Barca v City Post Match Thread

We've beaten Bayern twice and played really well against them for about 40 minutes the first time. We were leading Madrid at the Bernebau untill shortly before the end 1st time around.

Apart from their finishing tonight Barca were poor. I actually think we are making good progress under Pep overall and can see a lot of improvements but in all honesty tonight didn't look like any kind of message that we have arrived in Europe.

Fuck you Nike.

Why the fuck weren't we in our home kit tonight?

Will Barca turn up at ours in their purple/pink kit? Will they fuck.

I don't totally diasgree-however, that season under Pellegrini we had Kun, Negredo, Dzeko and Jovetic as our strikers. The disparity now is the reason we are not scoring enough goals given the chances we are creating.

That's a fair point. And it frustrates me no end - how can you spend literally hundreds of millions of pounds and end up with a far weaker striking department than you had 2 years ago? It makes no sense and is so shortsighted as to be almost criminal.

We'll be fine this season but not getting out of this group, with these players, after strolling to the semis last year, after putting the club on hold for 4 years to land the manager we have now would be a disaster.

Oh come on Guy. How were the tactics working that well that we were so negative in putting there back four under any pressure ?
On those occasions when we went forward (only in the first half) did we have a few players in the penalty area ??
Sorry mate but a poor selection and an even worse formation cost us.
I love Pep but IMO he fucked up good and proper o this occasion !!!

I guess you missed the chances and shots on goals stats first half in fact I think you were watching eastenders, to remind you we were playing Barcelona away

We will probably need to win in Germany to qualify-always the key game in a difficult group.

Rose instead of Aleks. Don't think Dier is better than Dinho but I don't think Dinho is a natural DM. KDB and DA for me. Silva, wonderful to watch but while not as useless as Navas in the final third he doesn't half squander some opportunities, both for himself and others.

As for the formation. Pep has revolutionized the way we play. I would have preferred evolution. A solid back four, with Hart. Dinho, Gundongan and Yaya in midfield and any three from god knows how many up front. While Yaya is piss poor at pressing he is a wonderful passer and retains possession better than most. Also knows how to take a penalty. Also think Nasri's exodus was a bit precipitous as he is now showing for Sevilla.

You're funny I'll give you that

and Borussia Park is not easy place, we struggled there last season and Barca also had difficulties there. The 2 points dropped against Celtic has put the pressure on us

Good performance until Bravo forgot he was 30yds off his fupping line, If we had 3 top strikers to pick from we wouldnt have had a problem.

I think we will. This is still City remember... 1-4 or something equally impressive no doubt. (And then lose at home to Celtic *shudder* )

We have one top striker and he didn't play so if we had 3 and they were all on the bench how would that have helped? How would a top striker stopped the bravo cock up?

I missed the game, but just based on the facts, I have to agree. We apparently played well and Barcelona played badly, and yet they still spanked us 4-0. We were well in the game when the sending off happened according to most people, and yet if it wasn't for the sending off, we would have been 2-0 down against this team that we were "matching."

now i have not read a single post on here after the game, so I don't know what the mood is. but tonight is the first time we have ever looked like we belong with the top three (Barcelona, Real and Bayern). I'm not sure of exact numbers but i make it 13 times wev'e played the big 3 (4xreal, 4xBayern 5x Barca) in 6 years. and withe the exception of the Bayern game away where we won (dead rubber to them), in all honesty weve never had a sniff!

tonight was different! they went 1-0 up through a mistake. and before the sending off we were matching them (without our best player). even at 3-0 down we were having a go!

we will do them at the Etihad!

But the best part of my night has been realising that them rag ****s are now like us 15 years ago, praying their rivals get dicked in Europe!

M.C.F.C SALFORD! (from a salford blue that only knows 4 lads thats have been to old trafford more than him)!

You expect us to beat Barcelona with Caballero at the helm! ffs

Unfortunately we've just shown yet again, that we're miles away from winning this competition.

We just don't have enough players in all positions who are technically good enough to keep hold of the ball under pressure and most importantly who are mentally strong enough in the big games.

I'm afraid this team is pretty much the same as last season's, flat track bullies against weaker teams, but mentally weak against the better teams, both domestically and in Europe.

looking that way to be honest. Since PSG in April we haven't beaten a decent side...

We all hold our breath when Agureo goes down hurt and pray he will stay fit
He's 100% fit and we don't play him v Barcelona
Sorry I've not won 20odd cups or whatever it is but I'm fucking baffled by that one

Joke game, where everything went wrong, again.

But, lets have it right...............At half time we should have been in front then a momentary lapse finished the game.

However, lets not get carried away. This is a group game and we will qualify in second place so no harm done.

And, its only a second into Pep's reign so lets keep calm and trust the man. We dont need a total overhall or throwing out half the team, just a bit more belief and some fucking luck for a change!
