Based on the 1st 2 reviews, looks like you have uncovered a gem and the owner sounds a real jolly fellow.

"The man here is terribly ignorant and rude"
"The man who runs this b&b is rude, unhelpful and arrogant"

my tip Barcelona Reus airport is nowhere near barcelona (Ryanair) you have been warned !

But Ryan Air stick on a bus to take you to the City (nearly as long as the flight)

Just booked a weeks all inclusive for £385 in Calella Sunday - Sunday.
It's about half an hour from Girona airport and then another 45 minutes from Calella to the Nou Camp.

Im booked for calella same dates mate from Liverpool , which hotel you staying , im h.top Olympic , 180 total all inc with flights.

That looks crap mate from the reviews.

We're on the same flight and booked into here

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g187497-d228626-Reviews-Abba_Sants_Hotel-Barcelona_Catalonia.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Revi ... lonia.html</a>

A bit dearer but the reviews are pretty good and close to the ground as the games on the day we arrive.

yeah that looks decent, yeah the reviews are poor on that one but hopefully won't be too bad as its only for 1 night (wednesday), fairly close to the Nou Camp and i'll be pissed after celebrating the us going through to the 1/4's ;)

Anyone.

How far in distance and time(walking/Bus/Metro) is the old town from Ramblas and the centre of Barcelona? Would the old town be classed as roughly the city centre? Looking at a Hotel in the old town.

I've also been looking at Hotels in the El Born district.

Any district suggestions would be welcome.

TBH I don't really want to be messing about with buses, Metro, etc at first. Happy to walk about and find my way around. Once I get the feel of the city centre, then I'll start going out a bit further.

Thanks again.
