Loved him from the minute we signed him. Absolutely brilliant at what he does and he has definitely got another year in him. I can't see how fans of other teams see that he is a fantastic footballer. If your getting a vote from David Silva as his player of the year you've definitely got something about you.

United ( Carrick)
Chelsea ( Mikel or Lampard)
Spurs ( Parker)
Arsenal ( Arteta or Ramsey)


I know some of them are better than him in certain areas ( passing,shooting..etc), but his overall play is better than them.

even though i fukin hate united and all hes not better then carrick him and rafael are the only 2 players with genuine quality. but i agree about the rest. arteta can be hit and miss but imo Barry can still be amazing in the league hes just not cut out for the Champs/National football.

Had a massive row with the old man and brother tonight about Barry being good or not. I'm all for Gareth, think he's vital in midfield, and bar the occasional mistake he is real class. I don't see how people can see it if I'm honest.

I like the guy and he's a good, solid player who does his job well. One of those players I thought was only under-appreciated by fans of other clubs and not by our own. I do agree he's had a few under par games this season, which I think makes them stand out further as he's mr reliable - there is a reason Silva voted for him as player of the season for us last year! I do think should be retained and a younger, faster version sought (I've not played fm for a while so maybe someone can name some?!!) who can share the workload and play CL for us. Do think he should stay and retire with us, poss coach in the future? Seems very level headed.

There may well be much better out there, but there isn't yet anyone better in our squad who is better than Barry at what he does when he is fit and on form. I think that's the point of the OP. He hasn't got many good years ahead, but if Garcia and Rodwell finish up as good as him at his best - which they may if given time - I'll be happy enough.
Was v good against the scum, and as they're supposed to be the best at the moment....
