the same could be said about every poor player some managers pick them every week and as far as England are concered Phil Neville got 50 caps so hardly proves your point about Barry

Phil Neville was a very good and useful player

No manager picks poor players. Managers pick players who get slated.

Heskey as a striker !!!!

Heskey is a very good player

Not been on here for a while yet come on and see a Barry thread and its like I've never been away.

Barry is nothing more than an average player being made to look better than he is because he's playing in a top side. All the top teams have at least one player like this, the rags have had plenty over the years o'shea, evans, park etc etc! We've got a few players like that and Barry is certainly one of them.

Someone posted about him being picked regularly for Villa, City and England - Well that's game, set and match because Villa have been nothing short of sensational over the past decade and we all know how amazing the National side is.

For those in the minority who can actually see Barry for what he is fear not and remember this, City fans voted that lump of turd Richard Dunne POTY for 4 seasons, they said he was the best CB in the country and could play in any of the top 4. The minority said he was useless and a walking calamity. Dunne went for a pittance and yet not a single top team was interested. He has since struggled to hold down a regular place in a average Villa side.

Barry has had his best season in a city shirt but it comes as no surprise that his dip in form has coincided with the absence of Yaya who has carried him! Fear not Yaya will return soon enough and hopefully he can carry Barry through to the end of the season. Which given the size of Barrys arse is no small achievement in itself!

Please tell me this is a joke.

No, there's a very good reason why he's been a professional footballer in the best league in the world for over a decade. He is an absolutely excellent hold up man, one of the best in the league.

His position is a striker. Yes he can hold the ball up not excellently as you say as he doesn't have the ball control but he can do a job. But the main role of a striker is goals.

Birmingham - 68 appearances - 14 goals
Wigan - 82 appearances - 15 goals
Villa - 80 appearances - 9 goals

Those stats are fucking shocking. Embarrassing even. He isn't premier league quality. The only reason he's still knocking around is because he's cheap and "experienced". Don't even get me started on his international "performances".

His job isn't to score goals, no matter what position you call him. His job is to bring the midfielders into the game, or knock a ball on for another striker which he does very, very well.

Many strikers, such as Rooney have said in the past that they much prefer playing with Heskey as he works for the team and creates chances for them.

They want to play with Heskey because he makes them look good. I'd look like a good striker next to him.
